Hi all!! :) I'm Brenda from IL and I just started here at CC. I'm 29 years old, married for 5.5 years and mother to one son who just turned 4. I've battled the bulge since I was a baby. (I was 150 by the time I entered 5th grade) The only time I have ever been CLOSE to my "ideal weight" was in high school. And even that was because I lost weight the unhealthy way and basically stopped eating for a summer. Boy did I pay for that one!!! They weren't kidding when they said you'd gain it all back and then some! LOL Now here I sit.... a year away from 30 and I'm 249 pounds. Yuck. On the plus side, I finally made the decisions that enough is enough. I was 264.4 and I lit a fire under my own butt and I have lost 15 pounds over the last 2.5 weeks through diet modification. (High protein and fiber, Low everything else!) Not much exercise yet but that is the next step. I'm super excited and for ONCE, I really feel like I can do this! No more fad stuff. I'm doing it the old fashioned way - the healthy way!
I'm doing this for myself, but I also want to set a good example for my son. I don't want him growing up like I did. Dear hubby still loves the junk as does my son... But they haven't seemed to notice that I've slowly been changing their diets too ;) Sugar free there... Low fat there... No complaints yet! I even switched to skim milk and no one noticed! (Dear hubby noticed the bottle when 3/4 of it was gone and asked what I bought that "nasty stuff" for LOL!!! I then explained he had been drinking it and using it in his cereal for the last week ;) )
So I'm on a mission... Get myself right, and maybe some will rub off on my family too. I would like to get down to at least 180. (Another 69 pounds) but I have set 10 pound goals along the way.
Would anyone out there like to be a weight loss buddy!? :)
