IM NEW! IM 5'6 135 AND WANT A BUDDY TO STAY MOTIVATED TO BE HEALTHY AND loose a few lbs!
Hi hi hi!
I'll be your buddy - i'm 5'6 and 132 lbs.
Personally i REALLY want to get down to 120 ( i used to be 110 but people forced me to eat due to suspicion of an eating disorder)
Tell me what you are planning on doing to loose weight/ be healthier? hahaha
well the calorie calculator tells me that for our height and all that we should we eating like 1900 to maintain! but there's no way i can eat that much.. what have you been doing to keep your weight! 120 is my dream too :(
and also! i can eat that much if it were in a binge, i just feel that i have to eat way less to loose weight!
Wow. 1900. thats almost insane.
I struggle to eat 1200 to be honest, and most days i don't quite make it. i know thats totally bad, and possibly the reason i'm struggling to loose this weight.
But i'm dancing 4 days a week, and working for a performing arts company and there is no way these other girls i'm working with are eating 1900 calories!!!
but i'm the same as you - easily 1900 if i'm bingeing, tee hee 1 tim tam = 200 calories :O :O :O gosh, it's easy to build up if i'm eating junk, but alot of the time i just can't bring myself to eat that kind of junk, which i supose is good?
My theory is that exercise is going to help me loose this weight, although, its rather unsuccessful at the moment, even though i'm going to the gym 6 times a week i'm not actually loosing weight. Its quite unfortunate - i thought i was loosing weight and that i was getting skinnier, but then they weighed me and i weighed exactly the same. talk about smashing down the self confidence there!
do you go to a gym or anything!?
your deff just gaining muscle! try not to worry so much about the numbers as you do the way you feel! remember muscle ways so much more then fat! almost three times as much!
to be honest i do not work out at all really, if walking with friends around town and stuff like that counts then that would be my work-outs! sometimes ill do a few squats here and there but not much! if your dancing girl dont worry! eat healthy and try to get your calorie intake up, so that you dont feel the need to binge!
At least your doing some form of exercise, walking at least gets your heart rate up a little and you could totally be sitting on the couch for hours on end instead :)
Do you not have time to exercise or just don't want to?
I wish i could control my weight without exercise, but it just doesn't seem to be happening!
Thanks for the support :)
i just dont want to, i mean sometimes ill be like "ok maria, its time to do a little something" haha, but its rare, i was actually thinking of doing like a half hour dance video like every other day or something, what kind of dance do you do? what is your normal day of foods like?
Hi Guys, I know you've already found each other, but I'm new too and i'm in a similar weight bracket. I'm 5.8" and 133lbs but I really want to get down to 126lbs but am finding it really hard. I'm exercising and i'm trying to watch what i eat but to no avail!
I find it really hard to resist a piece of cake or three if it's plonked in front of me so it would be really cool if you could both help me motivate myself.
thanks :)
of course!! you can too be our buddy! are you eating the right amount of calories? Because if you are then maybe your at the lowest weight your body thinks is healthy :) if you want to appear thinner, even though for your height you probably look VERY thin, then try toning up certain muscles :)
cake is one of my weaknesses' too! :(
hi eleanor_morris :) of course you can join us.
My best guess with your weight is that your struggling to loose weight because your in the right zone for your body - i mean you weigh the same as us but are 2 inches taller so maybe your body is unwilling to loose any actual weight? and i totally agree - maybe toning muscles would give the appearance of having lost weight if your body won't let you loose it?
hahaha its so much easier just to sit on the couch and have fun isn't it? I do lots of dancing, jazz ballet hiphop tap contemporary. and i work for a performing arts company so its a pretty active lifestyle. If you think your dedicated enough to do that dance video at least every second day by yourself at home go for it, but i know personally i would never do it - thats why i spent that extra bit of money and joined a gym, especially since its a ladies only gym and they really monitor you there, like they check how many times you've gone in a week and stuff if you want them to.
Is there maybe a local sports team your can join? or like, can you ski or surf or something? (i don't know if its even winter where you are, but i spent the weekend skiing and gosh, that was a workout if i've ever seen one!!)
xx
ooo i just had another idea eleanor_morris - maybe your body has become used to the amount of calories and exercise you are doing, so its gotten itself in a routine where it can work at its optimum using what your putting in, hence not using any of the body's stored fat.... so maybe trying a healthy eating plan where you vary the calories up a bit, for example one day eating 1400 and the next eating 1600 and then the next 1200 etc.. and changing what exercise your doing every second time or something?? :) xx
oh thanks guys!
Thing is, I wouldn't consider myself fat by any means, but there's certain parts of my body that I really hate! Like my arms, I started working out back in January and my arms have just got bigger!! I think I'm putting on muscle but the fat is still clinging on lol! and on my bum as well!
I'm definitely going to buy some more workout dvd's to vary the exercise i do. Any reccommendations?
I'm going to try varying my calorie intake too. I did really well at sticking to it Monday to Fridaday last week and then I just ruined it all on Saturday! I ate really well all throughout the day, even resisting a pub lunch when we went to watch the Rugby and the over my friend's house in the evening (after I had had my Dinner) I kept picking on pop corn and pizza and nachos! :(
Any way, hope things have gone better for you!xx
dont worry about one day girls! somtimes its good for your body to have a bit of a splurge because you dont want to let it get bored hahah.. anyway yeah my arms used to be my problem but i started doing this exercise where I...
spread your arms out horizontaly, try to keep them at the same level as your neck.. then flex your wrists Up down up down up down up down, you will feel it! and then dont forget to stretch out your arms after otherwise you will get muscular looking and i think you want to look toned (thats from what I understand)
im from new york hahaha, dont worry! but yeah sports and stuff would be awesome for me to get into your so right! .. how have you been?
Um 5'6 and 135 is a perfectly healthy weight..

I totally agree.
No need to lose any.
Haha i know the statistics say thats 5ft 6 and 135 is a perfect weight, but as i work for a performing arts company, body shape and size is hugeeeee issue.
i like the other girls here i think, would like to loose cm of inches in certain areas rather than loose weight. toning by going to the gym would infact possible induce a weight gain yet produce an overall impression of being "smaller"
That is my aim. It's not necessarily the number but the appearance. The number is really not a constructive measure for everyone because what looks healthy on one person can look atrocious on another!!!
