I think I'm pretty much done...

After reviewing my progress and taking my original goals into account, I think I'm done with the weight gain project I set out to complete years ago. At 122-123 lbs, I am at my heaviest weight and quite happy with the results. If I gained a little more, I would be fine and I still have enough extra to ensure that I don't become underweight if I accidentally lose a few pounds. I checked the BMI and it's at about 19.7 to 19.9 which seems realistic.

Now I just have to make the transition to eating more realistic foods. It will be somewhat nice. I get to eat more high fiber things which will be good. I wasn't particularly fond of all of the chocolate peanut butter shakes I was consuming.

I just wanted to let everyone out there know that weight gain is possible. For people who are naturally thin (like I am) there is hope. You can keep making excuses (I have a fast metabolism, I'm rarely hungry) or you can do what you know you need to do to change. This forum definitely helped a lot. Even though I don't have an eating disorder, reading stories of those who do have them was helpful for me in identifying the negative thoughts that were holding me back form my goal. Eating disorder or not, everyone has those thoughts that tell you you aren't capable. Ignore them and move on with life.

I wish everyone the best of luck in their weight gain pursuits. I'll still check in now and again to give some advice when and where it is needed.

Wow, congratulations!  You are such a wise person to do what you know is best for your body.  :)  It will thank you for that!  Congrats and thank you for the little thread of hope!

Congratulations to you! It sounds like you put a ton of time, effort, and dedication into your new and healthier body! I'm so happy to hear that!

I also just completed a gaining goal. Although I have battled off and on with Anorexia for the past three years, I have always been really slim and FINALLY reached a weight range where my BMI is healthy (low end of healthy, but nonetheless, more than I EVER thought I could reach!)

And to all those who have also finished gaining weight, remember that you still have to keep it on! After I found out I had hit my target range, my parents and I tried cutting back a mere 300 calories, and well, I lost a pound and a half in two days! Yikes, our bodies are whacked. lol

But great job, and thank you for the inspiration, it makes me feel better about my accomplishments, too :)

Congrats!!! Laughing

Huge congrats.

You are such an inspiration for me, Tangerine, not just because you really did it, but because you took it all the way to your GOAL after years of "trying to gain."

That's where I feel like I am now.  This is the last year my New Year's goal physically is to "really gain the weight."  It's going to happen.  I'm going to be living the life in best form rather than just working towards it year after year.

And you're right about the excuses--so I can maintain on 3-4000.  So my stomach has problems.  That doesn't change the fact that I NEED more weight on me, and I'm the one who gets the cute body, strength, health, and better life that come with that.  So I can choose to settle here or I can choose that I want more. For real. I might have more challenges to overcome, but I want to really get there, just like you!

you did it!!!!! congratulations!!! you deserve to celebrate with a big fat slice of....apple? haha havent you missed those fruits?

You're an inspiration for me as well, and it's been really good for me to hear all the progress you've made since you're able to look at it so much more rationally than those of us with ed's can.

Be very careful not to lose now! I know it's so exciting to be able to eat normally again, but everytime I think OK, I'm going to just eat normally, not count, not think about it, and eat what I want, I lose. Ufortunately with my metabolism, and probably yours too, what normal people isn't enough. But it's all about finding balance and you have a very good head on your shoulders. I hope you continue to live a happy and healthy life!

Congratulations!

You are such an inspiration, you sound like a very clever, determined person!

Most people try to LOSE weight ,so it is nice to hear about some one achieving a different goal too!

Congrats, tangerine!  Thanks for the great advice on gaining weight   :-)

You're an inspiration to many, including myself.  Treat yourself to all that's good in life!
