Okay, okay.  I KNOW weight fluctuates: sodium, muscle, TOM, blah, blah blah.   And I weigh daily to be aware of these fluctuations whilst losing weight...and very often, I'll be up a pound one day, down the next....whatever.  Don't care.

But I am up nearly five pounds from yesterday.

It is NOT my TOM.  I did NOT eat late.  I didn't eat more sodium than is acceptable and I actually drank far more water than I NORMALLY do...and in fact--this week I've been really good with my calories.  Nothing scarily low.  Nothing high.  And I've been adding maybe...45 minutes of daily exercise to my normal amount--(totally low-impact additions.  Like walking and such.)  I was down a pound from Monday--yesterday.  Today, I am a weight I haven't seen in two weeks.

So...I guess I'm just searching for those more knowledgeable than me to tell me:  A) "Oh, that's normal.  It happens.  It still may be sodium or something.  Bodies change.  Whatever."  or B) "Yeah, that's weird.  You probably have thyroid gangrene or colon-bloat-so-big-itis.  Or maybe your tape worm died."

Holla back?

I have seen my body weight fluctuate alot, In the range of 10 LBS in a day. also are you maybe wearing more cloths.

If by "more clothes" you mean NO clothes.

You know what?  Do the same thing you did yesterday, or do something different.  Sure, there's a math to calorie counting, but that math is imperfect.  When you wake up tomorrow morning, you'll be back to normal, and everything will be okay.

There's only so much you really do control - if you honestly do your part, things eventually do fall into place.

It's like driving - if you stay in your lane, more than likely you'll make it into work fine five days a week.  Sometimes you drift out of your lane, and it doesnt matter.  Sometimes that drifting causes a wreck.

Sometimes you'll be five minutes from home and you'll hit EVERY STOP LIGHT IN BETWEEN THE HIGHWAY AND YOUR HOUSE!  If you're anything like me, you'll get frustrated, but it's just an annoyance.  Things will be fine as long as you stay in your lane.

You're at a stop light.  Be annoyed, but don't worry.  You'll get home fine.

I feel your pain. Im normally around 140 and then I got on the scale yesterday and it was up 5lbs. maybe it was just something in the gravitational pull yesterday? ahaha id like to think so.

Are you about to be on your period? My weight fluctuates right around that time.  It is depressing.  I just continue to do everything right and keep it extra tight when I see the scale creeping up so I know it is nothing that I am doing wrong.  I also increase my water intake and kick up the excercising a bit.

No, actually.  My period was over last week.  But even then, I usually only go up a pound or two.

I'm not like--uber-depressed about this--and I don't think I've suddenly gained 5 pounds of fat or anything ridiculous.  But I fluctuate all the time.  I'm up a pound, down two pounds, back up a pound, down three pounds--all the time.  Overall, I'm still losing weight.  But day-to-day, it's all over the place.  And I just wanna make sure that THAT MUCH change is normal and...okay...

Ummm just take comfort in the fact that it's not actual weight. That's physically impossible. Whether it's water or food or a small invisible possum clinging to your back, it's definitely not fat.

Ya know, I THOUGHT it may be a possum.  They always get me.

Did you have your scale in a different spot?  My at home scale is really bad and I can move it to 5 different spots and get 5 different weights that differ by like 5lbs.  That's why I only go by the gym scale.

true!  I weigh in the morning in the same spot everyday.  If I change location I can weight a pound less or more.

well i mean you can't gain that much in a day thank god, so at least its not fat. but still i understand how frustrating it is, you're doing all of this hard work, step on the scale and it looks like you ate an entire cake! haha. i would guess its water weight though, you should be down in a day or two i think

I gained 6 lbs overnight from starting to lift weights. Now the weight drops one pound per day every morning so I'm presuming my body is just getting used to everything.

Freakin bodies are weird.

That is just so profound! You really are Confucious!

I also love this one: Freakin bodies are weird. By Pezzle

Seriously Muppetlips, I have these problems too. I feel your pain, but I think these other posters are absolutely correct. I weigh myself every day, too, same place, same amount of clothes. It is weird (and worse than weird depending on my mental state-) to see so much change.

Someone else said about gravitational pull-liked it-there is no moon right now-maybe that is why? I have no doubt these things have something to do with it!

Peace

You said you added exercise this week...new exercise generally makes your muscles retain water. No worries, you're normal!

That has happened to me. I wish I could tell you why or how I fixed it, but what I can promise is it will go away, and you haven't really gained 5 pounds.

Constipation? water retention (with or without salt overload)?

Don't know, but you'll be fine!

Tape worm died..hahahaa..love that.

I've been at this awhile now (I've lost about 70 pounds), and this happens to me all the friggin time, sometimes in amounts as high as 10 big ones. Its frustrating, but just keep counting calories and exercising. It'll work. Just stick with it.
