omgg guys
i just got my period today and i was really stressed out about other things, and i'm a college student so my college has free food all the time, and omg im so scared now because I JUST ATE TWO SLICES OF CAKE AT 12!~and i ate super a lot today as well
what should i do what should i do? im getting this compulsion to eat all the food i see!
omgg = ((((((((((((
it's just cake. brush your teeth and go to bed.
i feel so powerless against food
i fear food, and i hate it, i wish i could go back to having a normal relationship with it
syzhu, you are never going to live a life where you dont eat cake ever again. its okay to eat cake sometimes. i dont know what to tell you about having such a messed up relationship with food, but all i can do is reassure you that 2 pieces of cake are not significant enought to be "really really really scared." when i first read the title of your thread i thought maybe you had discovered some kind of illness or something life threatening--but instead you are talking about cake. do you see how irrational this is? i know its hard, but relax for your own good.
hey guys
you are right
sorry about freaking out, i was just...really freaked out @@
as what everyone else mentioned.
~ Lighten up and chill out ~
Also just as a side note - getting your first period will have hormone changes that affect your appetite.
I know for myself that I seem to get alot more hungry and peckish a few days before my period. My mom gets like that during her period. My sister during ovulation time. Everyones different.
I either take note thats its that time of the month and make sure my will power is on top form or I eat! lol!
Yes, if I get the craving then I eat it.
If youre good for the next 2 weeks even a week or exercise regularly then really....where is that indulgence going to go?
Listen to your body. :)
and Happy thoughts about food! heehee

i understand that whole fear mentality with food. its messed up; so when you feel like eating a certain food is going to have dire effects on you (i.e. gain tons of weight in a day) its not so easy to relax and forget about it. What you have to do is remnd yourself that you are allowed to indulge...but next time try to catch yourself in the moment and keep your portion in moderation. these past two weeks i've had a dessert almost every night..within my cals range and have lost 3lbs so far...so if you can't talk yourself down.i would suggest going to the gym and burning off 300-500 cals. that has what has kept me sane in the past. as for the bad relationship with food? I'm still trying to figur that one out myself,as well : /
By allowing yourself to fear food, you're giving something inanimate power over your life. You ate 2 pieces of cake, move on. The more you build up your fear of food and fear over having no control, the less control you'll have.
Actually, I think you should take your feelings very seriously because they remind me of myself... while I was developing an eating disorder, at about the same age, that took me almost 20 years and, finally, a terrific doctor and medication to overcome. If you really feel powerless and like you hate food but you can't control your need to eat then please, please seek professional help now, it shouldn't make you this miserable (although, as I said, I completely empathize). Hopefully, though, you're just hormonal and in a couple of days you'll be wondering why you were so stressed.
Good luck!

#2 There's not a darn thing you can do about it now...get back on that horse girl. Don't let a minor (very minor) setback get you down! You'll probably wake up tomorrow morning and have lost a pound. That's our bodies cruel idea of a joke.
You'll be jsut fine syzhu!
thanks bigbearjoe! =)
Today was nacho Tuesday at work...I've been real good so I said what the hell...Came home ran my usual regimen of 1.5 miles today at high speed...I felt eating those nachos wasnt a bad thing. I deserved it!
Just keep on track, having a binge is ok, every once and awhile ;)
Good luck!

Listen to your body. If you are getting a "compulsion to eat all the food you see", then there is a logical reason for this. Perhaps you:
a) are hungry. Did you eat breakfast? If not, eat something filling and low in calories before you are confronted by something like cake, or any other kind of sweet.
b) may have a binge eating disorder. Do you feel compelled to eat things in large quantities when you feel upset?
Don't feel BAD about it! I hate it when people who are on a diet say things like, "I was good today!" As if choosing the celery over the chocolate makes you a better person or something! Two pieces of cake... very caloric, but this minor slip up would not result in even a pound of weight gain.
Just listen to your body. It will not betray you. If you ate two pieces of cake for lunch, you may want to eat a very light dinner because you are likely not hungry. You may also want to exercise in order to burn off that cake because it most likely feels like lead in your stomach!
Don't worry about it. I'm doing an assignment today for college and I've eaten like the equivalent of 3 chocolate bars....but tomorrow's another day and I hardly ever eat this bad....1 day isn't enough to really permanently show anything up on the scales.
If you're hungry, don't fight the feeling, just eat something healthy and/or low-cal, and you'll be sweet. The others have given good suggestions :)
