Weight Loss
Moderators: duke3522, devilish_patsy, topanga1485, nycgirl, spoiled_candy, cmillington, coach_k I'm "skinny" fat...I guess. Should I change my goals?
OMG...I just entered my measurements into one of those body fat percentage calulators and it said mine was 30. :(
http://www.he.net/~zone/prothd2.html
Your weight is: 108 pounds
Your sex is: Female
Your Body Fat percentage is: 30
Your Lean Body Mass is: 76 pounds
Your 'Ideal' weight is: 92 pounds
I was only shooting for 100lbs...but if I have THAT much body fat. :(
I thought I was doing good too...down to about 108-109 and only 9 lbs to go. My clothes are fitting better. I have SO much more energy...and I even fit into a size 1 today for the first time since I had my baby. But this is just depressing. :(

Maybe I measured wrong...but I also have the scale that suposedly tells you your body fat percentage and it usually says 29-32%...So I guess that sounds about right. :(
I do not agree with that site at all and here's why My liver specialist told me that to be a healthy weight your BMI should be between 25-27 and by following his recomendations that would be 130 pounds for my height 5'2
the site you posted above is telling me 119. I think I will use a medical professionals advice.

sites are not accuate. The best way is hydrostatic weighing or calipers. http://www.new-fitness.com/body_fat_analyzing .html

92 lbs...that seems absurd to me. That would put me in the definate underweight category...by most ANY standards.
My BMI is 20.4 currently which this site says is normal. If I got to 100 my BMI would be according to THIS site underweight...but according to most other charts that I have seen it would be in the lowest percentile of "Normal" (18.9) and anything under 18.5 is underweight.

you can have a high body fat % and a low bmi. as an example, lebron james bmi is super high but his body fat % is low. many athletics have high bmi but low body fat %. Body fat % is what counts.
Well....is there a good way to "lose fat" without losing that much weight? If the only way to get rid of it is to lose 16 more lbs...I might as well give up now.
Maybe I should start walking/running? I have hardly any fat on my lower body...and just like a little donut left above my waist. I can see that it has visibly gone down...but still there.

i also think you measured wrong on the site. did you put your measurements.?
increase protein intake and start lifting weights or using your own body push ups, dips, squats, lunges...
it said my body fat is 20%, but sounds about right
how tall r u?
when i took the test it said mine is 20 % too but it's suppose to be about 25% (caliper)
that site doesn't even look at your thigh measurements lol

if i were 20% body fat I wouldn't need to lose weight....
if that's all you have ...it's no biggie you can't test your body fat % with a web site..it's impossible
I'm 5'1.
It didn't check the arms either... My legs and thighs are all muscle.

yup. do you feel skinny fat? i bet you don't. Don't get your emotions reved up over a stupid site :)
with that site, apple shapes will have a higher body fat % ...
I think you're right...I need to stay away from these website calculators. lol
Maybe I should concentrate on how I FEEL more than numbers...I know I have more to go in the "stomach" area...I suppose it could be time to pull out the "big guns" and start going to the gym every day.

5' 9.5", 170 pounds. 42" hips, 32" waist, 13.5" neck. It says that my body fat % is 32%!!! It also says my ideal weight its 141 lbs. I have been 160-180 since I was fourteen, includeding when I was on high school basketball and volleyball teams. My goal weight was 155. I remember eighth grade, when I was TWELVE years old, barely had hit puberty, 5'7", and I was a thin 135. What does that site think people should look like?
I havent read through the responses. You have to build muscle. That is how you fix it. Work out. Do crunches. Run. Lift weights. Whatever makes you happy. But the only way to lower your body fat percentage once you are at a healhty BMI is to build muscle.

I suppose it really all depends on how much muscle you have. You could be 5'2" and 130 pounds and be healthy assuming you had loads of muscle. However, 25-27 for a woman is generally overweight. I was 130 and am 5'2" and I can tell you, I wasn't obese, but I was severely overweight.
Man those thigns are SO wrong
I had -2% body fat on one!!@!
just look at your body - are you happy (altho most ppl never are)
If your body works why tailor it to someone else standard. Anyway, eating 100 less cals a day, you will still lose weight, just over longer.
