I'm sure this has been discussed, but i just read an ignorant-sounding bit of advice...

the only thing i've ever heard about exercising during your period is that it's very good for you. it helps decrease cramps and improves your mood. i always feel better when i work out during my period! where did you read that? haha
in someone's journal...i've always heard the same things you've said, that it helps alleviate cramping and improves mood, if you can actually convince yourself to do it, lol.
i just hate when ideas like that get perpetuated, that we women need to lie down in a darkened room for 3 days a month...
Well, you're not going to bleed to death, that's for sure! How active you can be depends on how you feel at that time... if you feel like death warmed over, exercise just isn't appealing. But death is certainly NOT a risk. :P

During my TTOM moment.. I workout less at the gyms.. I don't want to be in the gym with the TTOM flowing. I stay at home and workout lite. I still do the things I use too, but I found during a few of my TTOM when I did my running my TTOM moment would not last as long. My TTOM now only last for 3 days now.. I don't think it has last for more than 3 days... Since I started working out I've had shorter TTOM moments.. If someone would have told me my TTOM would have been cut short with workout I would have done that a long time ago.. And the cramps.. I don't have them anymore.. Now, if I could just get rid of the bloat and the water weight gain I would be on to something..
Wow, that's an interesting rumor. I highly doubt it though. I will say though, that sometimes exercising during my TTOM helps the cramps, but other times it just exacerbates them and makes me double over in pain. If that happens I figure my body is telling me to take a day off. I'm not sure why I react differently in some months than others.
For me, I find that light jogging really helps with cramps and my overall mood during my TTOM. On the other hand, I avoid ab workouts at all cost for a few days-- generally crunches and other such activities result in great pain.
