I'm surprised this woman isn't dead...
OMG!!!
Yuck - she looks totally deformed.
Years and years of wearing rigid waist-trainers will do that to you. I bet you the second she takes off her corset she has a HUSE pot belly from where her organs shifted. She's been wearing shoddy corsets for years and it will ruin you like that.
OMG THATS INSANE!!!!! I have seen a lot but wow, that cant be real...omg. I love corsets though.
Why would anyone want to look so hideous?
that's disgusting.... I would totally throw up I were in the same room with her IF she ever decided to take that off
oh my gosh, that just can't be comfortable...
I wonder how good she is at hula hooping
YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That woman is obviously somebody's experiment. WE are interested in Victoria Dressing she says? I wonder what her other half of "we" did to their body. I fell sick :(
gross!
I didn't watch the whole thing but if its the same woman i'm thinking of it took hers years to get like that. And she looks perfectly normal when she takes it off. which i find even freakier
That's Cathie Jung and her waist is only an inch or 2 smaller than Dita Von Teese. She's 70 so I think she can make her own decisions and *gasp* she does bathe. Tightlacing isn't uncommon, and I'm surprised you haven't come across people like Mr Pearl - he was quite famous a few years ago. On TV and everything.
Well....I guess I just don't surf the net enough because I've never seen anything like this before. I've never heard of Mr. Pearl either. Certainly she is old enough to make her own decisions...I guess I just don't understand WHY she would make this decision.
She sounds short of breath just talking!
lol schnooder, that's like hula hooping with training wheels.
like bowling with bumpers.
even if the hoop stopped spinning it would stay up there. ![]()
I would place money on it that she has had the bottom two ribs surgically removed, they used to do that way back when, to get small waists.
Corsetting is a fairly common form of body modification. It really isn't any different than tattooing, piercings or scarification of the body.
No your organs do not make you look like you have a beer gut when you take it off. And no she doesn't wear it 24 hours a day. They are uncomfortable to sleep in and slightly dangerous. She most likely removes it at night to bath, then bathes again in the morning before putting it back on.
That kind of Corsetting requires diligent care of the skin. The skin can become extreamly thin and tear if you aren't extreamly careful. So you have to bath at least once if not twice a day along with the proper moisterizers and make sure that you have the right level of fabric between you and the corset.
In the circles I move in, that kind of thing is very common. Its something I find facinating. I have a corset myself. Not that, I wear it all the time or look like that, but I wouldn't be opposed to it once I get back down to 130 lbs. It would probably be the only way I could get my 20 inch waist back.
For all of you who think that is gross, just remember, it might not be a way of life for every woman today, but before the invention of the Bra, every woman looked like that to a certain extent. No it doesn't require you remove any ribs. Prolonged wear deforms the rib cage expecially if you start when your a teenager and your bones are still growing.
Some men find it to be a huge turn on. Others don't like it. To each his own. Everyone has their own issues. I personally prefer a corset over a bra. Bra's make my back and shoulders ache. The Corset provides support without pulling on my shoulders and helps keep my back in line without me having to be in a back brace designed for people with scoliosis.
There are many different types. There are the working corsets that allow a bit of give for bending and streching that the household maids once did, then there are the more restricting versions that the upper crust of society once couldn't leave the house without. Those you have to bend at the knees not at the waist. They can take some getting use to. But, millions of women lived that way for a very long time. Its not really all that big a deal if some still choose to live that way. Like I said to each his own.
(Steps off my soap box and walks away from the thread wondering why it is the very people who hate being judged for the way they look, act or what they eat, spend so much time judging people for the way they look, act or what they eat.)
LadyKelien - thank you for the enlightenment. Though, you do have to question withthe corset that woman is wearing if it will damage her inner organs. I know several cases of corset-wearers whom ended up doing some damage to their internal organs for improperly wearing their corsets, and thus created the 'beergut' look.
I heard that certain types of corsets also did this, especially ones that merely 'cinched' all the way around and offered no frontal support to the torso. So, instead of creating the 'S' sihlouette, you'd have an hour glass-shaped profile, which from what I understand, was not very healthy or fashionable to have in the hayday of corsets.
I have my own fair share of corsets, I simply just have to be careful to wear them properly.

I agree with most of what you say, but in this case, she actually said she leaves it on 24hrs a day and sleeps in it. I imagine she does take it off to bathe though.
