I'm tired of the ignorant comments

Quote  |  Reply

For the most part people around me are supportive of me eating healthy and weight loss like my mom but then there are the stupid ppl like my bf and my stepdad that will say things like 'how are you gonna lose weight if you eat all the time' or 'you wont lose weight by eating at this time' etc. Right now i was eating salmon with broccoli and green beans and my stepdad said the above. Yes it is almost 10 pm but i woke up at 4 pm and only ate waffles and fiber one so far, so he has no idea how many calories i consumed. I'm not mad it's just annoying, he's not fit himself, he has a beer belly and doesnt care lol but im just tired of the little comments when they know nothing about losing weight and being healthy. My bf is another one, he is thin but has gained like 10 lbs by eating late at night, all kinds of crap. I gained weight just by being with him but of course you can't tell, he has no say in what i do! All i  eat are the right foods, i can understand if they saw me eating chips and cake all the time but what im eating is good for me foods, and i will not lose weight by not eating. Some people...

Does anyone else get comments like these?

What I think people should do is leave other people the hell alone about what they eat.  I get people ten times a day telling me I should eat if I'm hungry, blah, blah, blah... well, I'm not going to break 1500 because my stomach's a little needy today.  It's none of their damn business.  I know they are trying to be nice sometimes when they say I don't need to diet, but what I really think they should do is shut up, because it's hard enough that they can have chicken fingers and fries and a shake and still weigh 100 pounds and I'm eating sushi and green tea and low-calorie snacks but can't budge the scale.

AMEN SISTER!!!

I think people are just so weight conscious that they have to go knocking other people done when they're trying to do right. (Remember what they told you about bullies in elementary school? They're just jealous/insecure. Exactly that.) Especially in this country of people who have no CLUE what healthy is. =/ If they do, they're so absorbed in eating every little thing healthy that they never get a treat, and in my opinion, that's just as bad.

We're supposed to enjoy food, you know?

But I digress.

They're just scared of what you're doing. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If they can't mind their own business, you can mind yours.

I guess I am lucky, I don't know anyone nosy or rude enough to comment on what I eat, except to say "Oh that looks good!" or my boyfriend who LOVES everything I make for him and raves about how brilliant I am for creating a weight-loss plan that works for me. Yes, clearly I am lucky.

I think the young man from the previous page was just being so kind as to provide an example of the kind of mis-informed opinions you are tired of ;)

Personally, when I think someone is saying something stupid or offering an unsolicited opinion, I jut say "mm hmmm" the same way you would say it to a 6-year-old....you know with the well-isn't-that-interesting, pat on the head kind of way. They get the message.

I hear ya. I know people want to joke sometimes because they seem to think its funny when I actually try to lower my portion size but I just absolutely hate it when people say things like “ YOU KNOW you want more than that” or “Dinners ready, chonphansa you KNOW you’re hungry.” Or just little dumb stuff like that. And the thing is its always with when you’re at a gathering. Pi55es me off. Lol. Oh well.

My mom says the same things to me about how much I eat.I hate it!

I have plenty of people telling me the most annoying things. I like to eat healthy and am happy with myself. I was a decent sized girl at 165 and have slowly taken it off through the years. My grandma insists that I need to put all the weight back on because I guess being overweight is the equivalent of being happy in her book. Then again she is the junk food queen. Now I work as a dancer and have people coming up to me all the time telling me I need to eat more. I eat plenty. I get so tired of hearing the same things each day at work. I do have to say that the absolute worst is when someone tells me I should eat some steak and potatoes. Hello, I'm vegetarian!

I just think people open their mouths before they know the whole story.

my mom makes comments all the time "oh your eating too much" or "that's too much fat". never mind the fact that I've lost 8 lb in 2 weeks. she is always making recommendations. today i just got tired and told her to stop, that the way i was doing it is working.

My mom says the EXACT same things to me.....yesterday we got in a huge fight about it. And this isnt the first time...

I love this idea! Simple, yet brilliant.

I'll probably get cut in pieces but I have to say it. Some of the posts sound not only cranky but kind of creepy too. We get it, you try to lose weight. Good for you. But why obsess over it? How is it that you will not pay attention to 10000 comments about other things, but you overreact to comments about your diets?

I hear those comments too, so what? Compare-1 oz of healthy food and a whole 10 minutes of crappy mood and a need to rant afterwards just because someone said something. Nerve cells don't regenerate. If you feel like you want to stick to your diet, perhaps the first thing you should do is learn how to zone out certain things from your life.
