Implanon rant... women only
ok, this is a little bit of a rant! no where else i can really have this moan lol.
i'm on Implanon, the contraceptive implant. 3 years of no babies. downside, iregular periods. very irregular periods... EXTREMLY irregular periods lol
for 2 years i didnt have any. then at the begining of the third, well i think they are making up time! it runs out now in May
my period has now been going, minus a few off days, since the 7th of december... ARGH. if you think being bloated for a few days a month is bad, ive had nearly a month of bloating and a few days else!
yes, there are no babies, but currently, thats because theres no baby making!
ok... venting is over, and i do feel a little better lol.
anyone else out there at the wrong time of the month and needing a vent, feel free,
Kate
My doctor put me on birth control to make me have my period regularly because if you don't have a regular period, you're at an increased risk of uterine cancer. Yeah, periods suck, but I choose to deal with them. I guess some doctors think it's okay to not have periods, as pharamacutical companies have created these things that stop your period.
It sounds to me like the hormone in the implant wore out and it's time to get it redone. Especially since you're supposed to get it changed in May and it stopped you from having a period for two years.
i asked a couple of months ago and was told it was perfectly normal. ill ask again, as ive just changed doctors (i moved), thank you. before that i was on the injection, which completly stopped them as well. so i wasnt too fussed.
im not worried, just slightly annoyed! lol
just to clarify, i went on birth control, just for birth control, i wasnt even warned that it would affect my periods originally, and when i changed from the injection to the implant, i was given a little leaflet, which glossed over any effects, and was told that i had to come off the injection as it increased my risk of osteoperosis, so i could go on implanon instead of.
dont want to spark up the whole "stopping periods purposefully" debate, as i know it can get quite het up.
definatly wasnt my intention, dont mind having a period, just an entire month of it is enough to piss most people off id imagine lol
Oh dang! That sucks!
I have an IUD (love love love love love it!) However, I have an occasional period (like every few months) and I always forget, so right before, I'm an evil snit and feel bloated and I DON'T KNOW WHY-duh. Then my "Aunt Flow" shows up and I'm like, OH -thaaaaats why.....
The injections made me have my period for a month....not nice.....sounds like they worked for you!
I would just call your Dr and explain that things are "not right".....and I mean seriously not right and you might need a new implant.
Good Luck! I'd be miserable too!
