Did you improve any part of your life in 2007?

Quote  |  Reply
It wasn't a goal at the time, but once I started becoming aware, and came to CC, my eating habits have the biggest improvement.

Activity; I got a bike this yr and also took up golf this yr.

So, all in all, I have had great improvements in my lifestyle. I don't want to think about negative things that happened, just the good things in 2007.

What big, good changes did you have?

I definitely  added a lot more exercise to my life.  I ran this summer and use my elliptical this fall/winter.

I also learned alot about nutrition and eat many more fruits and vegetables than I used to.

I think I also taught myself to stick with something for more than a week or two.  I think I am much better at being committed. This has changed more areas of my life than just diet and fitness.

Huge improvements. Lost 30 lbs and regained my confidence, control and my life - thanks to Calorie Count! Got engaged too. 2008 is bound to be even better as I am going to stay in control and I will get married on top of it!
tribegirl:  I know what you mean.  Losing weight and (mostly) sticking to healthy eating.....which we all know is soooo difficult, has given me more confidence in general.

nycgirl:  funny, we all notice our confidence improving with weight/nutrition improvements.  Wow, congratulations on your engagement.  I'm very happy for you.

Yahoo, I set out to lose weight in a healthy manner and I AM losing weight in a healthy manner.  I set out to get on track and find a way to stay on track and I have achieved that.  This coming year and my new goals don't seem so daunting as they did last year.

Nycgirl-ditto, congrats on your engagement!

In 2007 ....

* I fostered 38 kittens for a local, no-kill animal rescue.

* I transported over a dozen rescue animals to safety (to rescue groups around the state).

* I successfully managed to keep things going at home while DH was in Iraq.

* I started swimming (as exercise).

* I bought a bike and started biking (as exercise).

* I bought a treadmill and started walking (as exercise).

* I joined CC in August and learned all about healthy eating, safe weight loss, nutrition, diet, exercise, etc..... and I lost 70 pounds!!!

* My cholesterol dropped 60 points (208 down to 148)

* My blood sugar levels dropped 40 points!

* My insulin shots decreased from 4 per day to 1 per day!

* I stopped taking one of my oral diabetes medicines!

* My blood pressure has dropped.

* I was blessed with the opportunity to clean out my closet and donate piles of clothes, since nothing fits any more! (Yay for dropping 2-3 sizes and new clothes!)

* I learned to try and enjoy NEW FOODS (for me) ... quinoa, bulgur, red peppers, ostrich, acorn squash, banana squash, spaghetti squash, shirataki noodles, tofu shirataki noodles, almond milk, flax seed, etc.

=^..^= MOLLY

Congrats to everyone above for their accomplishments! Especially Molly and Ohio45 for hopping on a bike for the first time in a while! And to tribegirl for adding in the exercise, and to nycgirl and vklamorick for the weight loss.

2007 was the year I found this website and finally got my eating and exercising acts together. I lost nearly 30 pounds and am in the best shape of my life (since high school). I think it is because of this success that I am feeling so joyful at the New Year holiday this year. I really think I owe a lot of that to the support I found here on this site, I am grateful.

I also did a lot of exciting things this year! Moved in with my boyfriend, bought a house, got a horse, adopted a new kitten, and saw the Panama Canal.

I can't wait for 2008!!! Congrats to everyone else on their successes!

congratulations Molly for improving your health!!!!

katyayer:  what an exciting yr for you!!!!  (sounds like all the things I want to do!)

Ups:

I started cycling to work in March, and by the and of the year cycled about 1700 miles.

I lost 28 pounds and dropped  two dress sizes.

Travelled a lot.

Downs:

I found my first gray hair  (but I am 32 so that's not too bad)

Still haven't had any babies.

I must say that I didn't lose a lot of weight, I have difficulty controlling what I eat.  But I did lose 15 lbs but the biggest accomplishment of 2007 was I quit smoking as my resolution last year and didn't relapse at all and I feel 100 times better for having done so.  I also started working out regularly in 2007.  This year it will be reigning in my inner cookie monster and losing some weight.

To be honest, at first my year wasn't so healthy. I lost A LOT of weight and weighed only 91 pounds and I'm 5'5".  People started to complain to me and my family about how i looked. First i didn't care but then i realized i put my body and health at risk. For the last 2 months of 2007 I gained weight back and I'm healthier than ever!

So in 2008 I'm going to maintain my weight and continue to eat healthy.

2007 has been fantastic for the most part.  I met a great guy and we are engaged.  I did hit my all time high weight of 230 but then dropped to 209.  In October I bought my wedding dress and decided it was time to get healthy.  I new eat very healthy foods, exercise every day, and am down to 187.5 pounds!  I also quit smoking a few days ago.

My major goals for 2008 are to continue my weight loss, start a wonderful marriage, and never smoke again!

yes, i became much more self-confident
Ive been to the gym almost everyday for 3 months and have no desire to stop.

Plan for 2008 is move to Dubai next month so that will bring a few life changes and challenges.
-I quit a job that, though I didn't know it for a long time, was wearing me out mentally and physically.  I got away from some very negative and destructive people in the process.

-I kept up my exercise routine rigorously.

-I made straight A's all year.
I improved my life immensly. I lost 40 pounds, took up healthy eating. Learned to enjoy exercise. I even ran a half marathon! I also made the volleyball and swim team. I got a 4.0 my first semester in high school! Pretty good for a 14 year old!
I improved MANY parts of my life. Simply put, I graduated college, I got married, and I learned how to eat better and exercise and lost 40 pounds. I still have a long way to go, but this year I began my journey to where life takes me.

2007 was pretty darned amazing! I stuck with the same guy (going on a year and a half now, woo!) and moved in with him. I also competed in the Miss Arizona Pageant which was AMAZING and watched my two favorite gals get the crown and first runner up! I made an amazing friendship with Miss Diamondback (the runner up) and Miss Arizona 2008 is helping me with any and every little pesky question I can think of to help me get ready for the next pageant in October!

I moved out on my own after my first year of college and living in the dorms. I also switched jobs to a much more lucrative position that includes networking opportunities for me. I got a fish (Sergeant Tacklebox) and made good of last year's resolution to keep him alive all year! I even added to my little critter family by getting two dwarf hamsters (Hank and Dean).

Last year I learned everything I needed to learn about weight loss and management and nutrition and health. This year it's all about applying it and putting it to use.

Did I mention I was on stage in front of 600-700 people in nothing but a tiny bikini? That was pretty much the highlight of the year! :)

Started with CC in February and as of right now have lost 65 lbs. only have 30 more to go -- this is the VERY first time in my life that I feel GREAT about being in control. Never lasted long before but there's no stopping me now.

Congrats to everyone!! Proves it can be done!

I lost 78 pounds, and fell in love. I also gained some long-needed self-esteem. 2007 was definitely the best year of my life, and I believe that 2008 will be even better. :)
2007 was a great year! I learned alot and what better, I used what I learned to make me a bit happier! I really learned how to prioritize. Some weeks, days, months, etc, I need to focus more on work, family, boyfriend, friends, and school. I might not be able to do everything perfect all at once, but I can certainly focus my energy on specific areas. I haven't lost any weight, but I feel healthier and more aware of my body than a year ago.
