im getting tired of these inches on my hips and wasite.  i do crunches, i do lunges, i do cardio, but nothing is working.

i guess i just needed to get that out there.  there are like 4 extra inches i need to lose around my hips and waiste to get to my goal, and its just very very frustrating.  it seems like crunches just arent doing it anymore.

i have 3 inhces to go of my tummy... have you tried slowing your crunches and push ups, sit ups? it works the tummy harder if you do less for longer, controled periods. I used to do 50 H.crunches (my version is put feet under sofa, lay on your back and use your tummy to lift your body up so you can put both hands between your feet then go down again and repeat).. now i have started doing 10, holding the accull movement of the crunch for around 5-6 seconds - going thogh the movement slower makes your body work harder.

And also, doing Rebounding helps with tummy too... hips... have you tried twists? lay on your back and ten lean to touch your oposite heel, and progress to toes as you get stronger.

Also i would keep up the cardio (cross trainer, running) and maybe add some weights in there too. You wont end up with huge muscles but it will help you burn fat and therefor help make the inches come off too!!

hope it helps??
Don't forget to hold some dumbbells while doing situps--this is a great way to whittle it down!  I started with a 3lber in each hand, now I'm up to 8 (for a total of 16)!
I have been in your shoes....

Iit is not (only) in the work out.   You must hava a balanced diet.

Experts say that you should aim for 40%carbs, 40%protein and the rest in oil/fat. Some other experts say that while in training, your carb intake should be at 65% of your daily dietary intake.  It depends on your body, age and lifestyle.  You must make a decision of which program you would like to follow.

They also mention that we need to take omega 3 and eat fish. Eat 6 small meals, by that It means each meal should be the size of a tupperware.  Depending on your body weight, your tupperware should e 5 inches long by 3.5 inches wide by 1.5 inches high or smaller.

Limit your calorie intake to 75%  to 90% of what your current calorie consumption is today.  For example, my weight is 205 lbs., I consume 3300 cals. per day.  If I want to loose weight without any pain, I nedd to limit my calorie intake to75% of 3,300 cals, approximately 2500 cals.   For every 500 cals. per day that you loose, you will have a net effect of loosing one pound (3,500 cals per lb. of fat) per week.

Write everything you eat.

Furthermore and most important, before you start any diet, consult with your medical doctor.

Please refer to the Abs Diet Book, see the website.

In a nut shell, It is all input and output.

We are what we eat!

Do crunches on a Swiss ball really work? I've been trying them for about a week now but I'm afraid that they're not as effective as the normal crunches which I've been doing for months.

i agree that diet is everything - exercising is second.  i eat 1500 calories (i was 284, now i am 237) a day.  i am never hungry.  i burn about 300-500 calories exercising every other day.

anyone can do it, it just tales will power.  good luck.
I say when you run into a block wall go back to the basics. If you are eating healthy, and excercising most days of the week - that's about all you can do - so feel good about it!!! Besides - you cannot "Spot Reduce" - fat leaves your body from all over the place.

I salute you for belonging to CC!!!
I agree 100% with steve and nubiker.  We all can work our abs until we're blue in the face; we're not going lose inches until we get the fat surrounding (and underneath) them down.  That means sticking to a good workout/eating routine until our body fat % has hit the level we want.

I also agree with Han.  Doing 100 crunches may be a great feat of muscular endurance, but as far as strengthening or bulking the ab muscles, you're better off sticking to lower reps of higher intensity.  Abs are like any other muscle: certain rep ranges promote strength, others growth, others endurance.

Remember that those last 4 inches are the toughest to lose for everybody, so just stick to a good routine and in time you will reach your goal.

GL!
*sigh* I will share my sad news.

people lose weight like an onion-that is, we lose our fat in layers over our whole body. the areas with the most fat lost it last. it's also why we can't spot reduce.

which means I will be tottering on stick legs with stick arms before my tummy stops jiggling.

*gives you tissues and runs out sniffling*
