Week 7 Challenge ~ Emerge a Butterfly!!!  Thursday, 10/19 - Wednesday, 10/25

So, what's up for week 7 ~ Emerge A Butterfly???

It's the Grand Finale ~ Game Plan Week!  A chance to look back and note the changes in our plans!  Plan for the Upcoming Holidays!  Figure out how to continue our Journey!

Ready to read all about it and pick up your Week 7 challenge and parts here!  No points sheet for week 7!

The Points!  This week is a little Different!  This week we're not doing points by part!

  • In Part 3, we ask you to email your brain bender answer to brain.bender@hotmail.com for a trick or treat!  The Games Coordinators will give your bonus points for the brain bender to your scorekeeper.
  • In Part 8, we would like you to share your "Game Plan" and post it on the Team Submission Thread for a trick or treat!  The Games Coordinators will give your bonus points to your scorekeeper.
  • No points for Part 2 ~ it's just some fun information and quizzes that look back over the games
  • No points for Parts 1 and 5 ~ it's all about you and your goals!  Do you want to take a minute to look back at your goals when you started.  See how far you've come?  Maybe plan a bit for the future?
  • No points for the rest of the Parts like Part 4 Main Dish Recipes, Part 6 Googled Links, and Part 7 Motivation Statements ~ thought we would share the submissions from everyone.  You can bookmark these for later when you have more time to peruse or want a new recipe to try?
Need the New, Updated & Current Games DirectoryTeam Roster?

pssst!  1 last leetle thing! If you are still participating in the Challenge, then you have won!  Perhaps you even learned a little more about what you like and dislike, what you enjoy, and perhaps you set a few new goals.  Perhaps you discovered new tools and the wealth of health, nutrition and exercise information available here at calorie-count and on the net.  Perhaps you met a new friend or two, strengthened your friendship with old friends,  enjoyed the journey together.

The really gr8 news!  The games may be over but we don't have to part!  We look forward to seeing you around calorie-count for a long time to come :)

Cheers, United2gether, Garnet77, Kalkette, Beanie1125 ~ your Friends & Games Coordinators :)

Hi Xuraiya!  Both recipes look gr8 :)  Makes me hungry!

So which recipe do you want us to use?

We need 2 recipes each week from the team...  usually 1 each from 2 people.  And hopefully, people will rotate so everyone only does 1 recipe...

If you are doing this for 2 people this week that's ok.

but, if you only do 1 for the team this week, let us know which one to use, ok?

thanks!  jules, games hostess :)
oops, sorry! I'll talk it over with my team first and see which one they like better
no problem.  they both look gr8 :)
Xuraiya,

Hi!  I saw your recipes...they look really good...I have the same love - hate relationship with tex/mex food...I love them...but it's got lots of calories...BUT...I will have to try BOTH recipes...You put two recipes on...I did the same thing last week because I wasn't sure if anyone was going to do it...we really had not talked about it...so we'll have to see what everyone thinks...
If you guys put your recipies in the recipe analyzer, it will tell you everything... the grade, how much stuff is in it, etc.  That might help you decide which one to use! :)
Hi Nicole,

I realized I should have done that last week AFTER I saw yours!!! Dumby me...I think the last time I had the Ceci & Pasta Recipe I did put it in the recipe analyzer....oh well, I guess I just live and learn!

Have you started on the brain bender?  I am still working on it....slowly but surely....
Hehe oh well, it happens--pasta, beans, healthy fats, and vegetables, I'm sure, would get an A anyhow!

I started on it, but I keep losing my place when scanning the columns or rows... I had to take a break eep
Okay I just read the super foods links....I really like them all but I have to admit I learned a few things from:

  • http://www.happycow.net/health-sf_seeds.html# flax
  • I knew that Flaxseed was beneficial, and I use it, but did not realize the full potential....so I am going to vote for this SUPER LINK.
    My votes are:

    Lindsay's SuperFoods link... http://www.althealth.co.uk/services/news/arti cle.php?id=1212
I love pomegranates... they are so exotic and pretty!

Laurie's motivational statement... it's short, sweet, and very to the point (but still eloquent)
    To accomplish great things,

    we must not only act,

    but also dream,

    not only plan,

     but also believe-

Just a quick note about the motivational statement I posted...I didn't write it...as I was writing I accidently sent it before I finished writing.  So the author is Anatole France.
Hi {{{friends}}}  I know you have just done this but would sure appreciate if you will do it one more time so we can put together happy, enthusiastic teams next week.  Pretty darn sure you will all be staying together as Inchredibles ~ that's our hope & goal cuz we hope you will all continue :)

Player Roll Call ~ Please confirm with your team that you still want to play, by Sunday, October 1st.  Thanks!

    Hi Everyone.

Life happens and we've had some players drop out and some captains have to withdraw because of life, illness and emergencies.  All quite understandable.

Truly, these games are meant to be fun.  A little inspirational and a bit thought provoking.  They are not meant to be a burden or like school or work.

So, if you want to continue with the games and play, please let your team know this week by Sunday, October 1st that you still want to play.

At the end of this week, we will merge teams and put active, enthusiastic players together so we can all go forward with people who want to continue.

We will continue to do this if anyone and for anyone who wants to continue.  Now is your chance to quit.   No big deal...  If you don't want to play, just don't post anymore to your team.  Simple as that.  If no one wants to continue, we'll just quit.  Thanks.  I'll will be back next Monday to see who is still playing and we'll go from there.

A new challenge will go up Thursday morning that simply says...   Do your normal goals for the week for points.  Do your normal exercise for the week for points.  And think about why you eat and exercise for your week 6 motivation statement.

That's it.  We'll use week 4 to combine and consolidate if anyone wants to continue.

    Thanks, jules  Games Hostess
I've decided--use the corn chowder recipe!
The motivational statement I like best is:

  • nicole123
    • "Your desires are unique to you; you alone can decide what is right and wrong for you.  Choose your heaven, and fight for it to the death; or be content to live in Hell."

I know that quote is a bit harsh for motivational words, but it always keeps me going strong.  I just take it as, if you *really* want something, then you better fight for it, or you have absolutely no right to complain if you are subsequently miserable.
  • That's my vote....
Week 4 Challenge ~ Roll Call & Merge Week! 9/28-10/4

    Hellooooooo Competitors!

Before you do anything on week 4, have you let your team know that you are still playing the Games!  If not, please check in with your team!  The deadline is Sunday, October 1st!

After that, we'll work behind the scenes to merge teams.  By next Thursday, we'll have everyone matched up in teams of active, enthusiastic players who are raring to go and who want to finish these 7 weeks of Games!!!  We will be keeping teammates together, so don't fret!  You'll be staying with friends :)

So... What about this Week 4?  This is a great chance for everyone to catch up or take a breather!  However, we will not leave you hanging, so for this week:

    • Week 4, Part 1:  do your own 5 normal goals (3 daily, 2 weekly)
      • The Points:  Tell your scorekeeper by Wed, 10/4, that you did Week 4, Part 1 Strive and Be Happy for 10 points (scorekeeper will enter a 1, line 10).
    • Week 4, Part 5: do your normal exercise routine or think about how you can incorporate exercise into your life, and
      • The Points:  Tell your scorekeeper by Wed, 10/4, that you did Week 4, Part 5(b) Get up and Move for 10 points (scorekeeper will enter a 5, line 49).

    • Week 4, Part 8:  You don't have to do anything with the points for Week 4, Part 8!  The Games Coordinators will take care of this for you and will let your Scorekeeper know how many bonus points you received for emailing your Brain Bender answer in week 3 (to enter 25, 50 or 75 points, part VIII, line 79 on week 4 spreadsheet :)
Week 4, Part 7 (from above):  Here is the topic to start thinking about for week 6...

Think back to your life before calorie-count. Before you decided to live a healthier lifestyle. What were some of your bad habits? Overeating, smoking, too much stress, lack of sleep, anything that contributed to poor health? What might have happened to you if you hadn't decided to live a healthier lifestyle? What might have happened already? What types of conditions might you have developed? Do a little research about the condition(s) you may have developed and simply start thinking about it. This is important because it will come into play in 2 weeks during week 6!

Hey guys!!! How's everyone doing on Week 4.  Anybody have points they need to submit, please post them on the other Inchredibles thread.  Laurie and I are trying to get a copy of the spreadsheet but we might have to start from scratch.  If you have weeks 1-3, would you mind posting those too?  (Jennelaw, I have yours for weeks 1-3)  I'm trying to get all the scores together so we can submit them, hopefully on time, this week.
Message to everyone :)  We've posted your updated links and motivation statements to choose from on your team chat thread.  Also, you're all set with the recipes through week 4!  *yay*

Message to pokaroni?  did you google "super foods" in week 2 and pick a link?  If you are still catching up week 2, it's not too late to pick a super foods link so you get the points for doing that activity.  Please post your link pick to the team submission thread here:

Message to phoenixcan?  Please go ahead and post your week 2 part 3 brain bender answer to the team submission thread here:

and phoenixcan, please email your week 3 part 3 brain bender words to brain.bender@hotmail.com. Please note the "dot" between brain and bender.

Ok everyone!  Hope this all helps!  Holler if you have any questions :)
