Hi, I was just wondering if anybody knew of any foods or anything that increase your metabolism. I read that grapefruit does, anything else? Thanks.

I've read that cinnamon might.  I also heard something about adding lemon juice to water.  I hope you get some good tips!  I'll check back later.

hey i read that spicy foods speed up your metabolism and that strawberries actually require more energy to be used by your body to digest them than you actually gain.

good luck

Not a food, but many people advocate eating several small meals a day in order to increase your metabolism. Good Luck!

I bought some of that drink powder you add to bottles of water to make it flavored. I noticed later that it had green tea in it and was claiming to boost metabolism. I thought it was a crock, so I researched it a little and apparently it is thought to boost your metabolism slightly for short periods of time (about three hours so they reccommend two glasses of green tea a day -- taken from webmd).  still don't know if I buy it, but the peach mango tastes good anyway so it's not really doing any harm, in any case. Smile

I've heard this food is excellent for raising your metabolism:

Weight training.

Some foods might increase the amount  you burn, but not long term and not in a significant way. We're talking an extra 10 calories a day, maybe. The only way to raise your metabolism in a meaningful way is the exercise, especially with weights.

If you eat regularly, drink plenty of fluids, eat the right amount for your age/size and level of activity and if you're nicely active you'll have a faster metabolism than someone who skips meals, is dehydrated, crash-diets and sits doing nothing all day.
