Tomorrow morning my friend is leaving for uni, so he's organised a meal out with his friends tonight as a kind of farewell gathering.
I'm really looking forward to it, aside from the fact it's at an Indian Tandoori Restaurant. Can anyone recommend any lowish calorie Indian foods that I could have for dinner?
I've already looked up, and there's no website, so no chance of finding out any nutritional info =[.
Thanks in advance =]

I would stay away from butter chicken (murgh) and any paneer (cheese) dish. Also saag (spinach) dishes, although I know they LOOK healthy, they're usually full of fat.
I try to stick to chole/channa (chickpeas) and dal (lentils), because at least you know you're getting tons of fiber! Tandoor chicken is also good, because it is grilled and not sitting in tons of sauce. Minimize your rice/roti/naan as well, and take advantage of the salad bar (if they have one).
Have fun!

Thank you very much :). Think I'll try out the tandoori chicken, and just be very careful on anything else.
I wouldn't think chicken vindaloo would be too bad either. Well, at least it wouldn't be high in fat. Might have around 350-400 calories, though. It's spicey, too. So look out. Heheh.
*everytimeateenager* is right. If you can avoid the naan at all costs, you should be A LOT better off. Limit the rice.
Oooohhh. Indian food sounds scrumptious.

I meant *feydruss* is right. Oops. Sorry. ;)
Curry Shrimp with brown rice might be a safe bet!
If you like seafood, try the tandoori shrimp - 3 oz is about 85 calories, while chicken is about 140 calories for the same amount. And, unfortunately, the rice and naan are things to limit or avoid.
I'm so jealous!! I love Indian food!!
Whatever you choose I hope you enjoy
Tandoori chicken is so awesome!! I'm glad to know it is one of the lowest-cal and lowest-fat selections, because that's what I almost always get!! Whew!
some places offer whole wheat paratha (sort of like naan)... or maybe all paratha is whole wheat? ... i'm not sure... but it is delish :-p otherwise, dont overdo it on the rice and stay away from any "cream" sauce... vegetarian indian dishes are yummy toooooo
goddamn, now i'm hungry.... doesnt help that there's an indian buffet right next to my work haha!
Actaully even vegetarian indian use lots of oil (ghee).
Be careful about parathi--it's usually two rotis stuffed with something. And they're usually brushed liberally with oil while on the pan. At least that's how they're made in my family! :)
