Indian recommendations

I love some Indian food, but have no clue what to eat which is low fat, low calories. Any suggestions? I figure to stay away from curry.. but there has to be something.

stay away from ghee... the clarified butter.  depends on what you like , and what type of indian.  (nothern uses more ghee, southern uses more coconut oil)  Curry is only the generic name for the spice blends.  If you eat meat, tandoori would be a good bet (marinated in yogurt, then seared in the tandoori oven) if not dahl, (lentils) may be a good option... my favorite is called either saag paneer or palak paneer... basically spinach with cilantro, curry spices, and "farmers" cheese cubes.  If you look at indian cook books... most of the dishes are pretty harmless in terms of fat or calories.  If you are interested, I could give you some cook books to try.
Thanks, I actually just had palek panner with some rice for dinner.. yum. I will keep tandoori in mind for next time & lentils too!
Aloo gobi all the way.  OK it's mostly potato so it's gonna have
some calories, but darn it's good.  The problem with most take-out
Indian dishes whether they be meat or veggie, is that they use a lot of
either Ghee or veggie oil (it's cheaper) in their cooking.  Just
go with small portions of a variety of the ones that look good, and
fill up on salad and a bit of plain rice.
kristincmc - what are the cookbooks you are talking about?  I love Indian Food as well and would love to get into cooking it!
Have you read anything by Madhar Jafre? (spelling could be wrong, don't have it with me)  She is really approachable in her explanations, and pretty authentic.  I also have one called, "Indian Cooking" wihich has really fabulous pictures of all of the food, but ironically enough, not all of my favorite recipies.  Lots of lentil dishes though, and all have been really good. Madhar's simosas are better.... I personally like things a bit spicier, so I add extra jalepenos. 
ok, I know not everyone has access to an ethnic food store, but if you do, I want to suggest "papadams", and going and grabbing a package.  These are the crispy lentil cracker things that the average Indian restaurant serves when you first sit down.  They are made out of lentil flour, and 100% vegetarian (vegan even) and if you pop them into the toaster oven, almost 0 fat, they do have protein.... and they have that fabulous crunch that you get from chips; without the negatives!

they are great with dips like humus or taziki..... or even salsa!
I'm a Madhur Jaffrey fan and have several of her books.  I'm lucky enough to have an Indian grocery store in my area, so I have a big collection of spices, which I wouldn't know how to use if not for her.

As for ordering, get some kind of dal and a yogurt & cucumber side dish, and one vegetable.  I like cauliflower cooked in a spicy sauce.  Tandoori is a good choice as suggested.
