Individual (100 calorie packs) makes you eat more?

Quote  |  Reply

I realized with these individual packs (except maybe 100 calorie popcorns), they just simply makes you eat more!

I went to a school cafeteria yesterday and after eating pieces of each food, I felt full for the entire day. I also realized, I like taking bites of different flavors than the same ones over and over again.

At home though, I don't like cleaning up excess food so I just eat it all (I mean I measure it before I put it on the plate abit but..). Like I take out 100 calorie yogurt pack and eat the entire thing, right?

Say I have 100 calorie to eat snacks on for example:

I decide if I want a 100 calorie yogurt pack, popcorn, or some animal crackers. I choose one. I eat it all (like yogurt) even if I don't really want it all, I just want something to munch on for snacking. When I'm done, I still want the animal crackers. I eat them too. I still want whatever else afterwards sometimes, and grab that too.

I just realized for me, having half the amount of individual things just fills me up and satisfies me... I've been trying to finish these individual servings and just eating more! Like having half of the yogurt + half of the animal crackers satisfies me more than having just 100 calorie yogurt... I realized I have to think of my kitchen like a buffet as well. Just take pieces of the stuff I want to eat at the moment, instead of taking the entire convenient bags of things, and then eat both of them.

Is it just me?

I stay away from those 100 calorie packs. The amount is so little, it does make me want more. I'm more likely to grab a higher calorie food after eating one of those. They don't make me feel full. I'd rather have half, or all of a slightly higher calorie snack, (150--200) then have just one of those.

Plus popcorn really does fill you up. I can hardly ever eat a whole mini bag!

The 100 calorie packs of cookies and chips are pitiful.  I laugh at them.  If you want to satisfy a cookie craving, SATISFY IT for god's sake.  Just setting yourself up for disaster with those things.  However I have bought the 100 calorie kettle corn and that was awesome!  I can eat a whole big bag of microwave pop corn in one sitting because it's there.  But the 100 cal pack gives me my cut off point...and it is usually quite satisfying.

I absolutely agree. A couple of weeks ago I bought a club pack of the President's Choice Granola bars (they are about 120 cals each) and the whole box lasted two nights. The same happened with the Lays 100 calorie potato chip box, that lasts for about 3 hours after its been bought at the grocery store.

those 100 cal packs and the WW's cookie/cake bars are the devil.

Edit to add:  I will eat the whole box in one sitting.  and, not even be satisfied-  just miffed that I scarfed yet another thing down like a zombie in headlights.

I agree that the 100 calories packs are horrible. I eat one, am not full, eat another, and then another. Thats 300 calories right there! They are so expensive but yet still hard to resist buying! I agree that 100 calorie kettle corn popcorn is REALLY good, filling, and worth it. Can people sharing more tips of food worth eating that wont mess up ones calorie count? I like to eat and I like to eat a lot at a time so this would definitely be helpful to me as I need to make the most of my calories!

I bought the 100 cal packs of cookies. .. I can't eat just one. I'll start with two, have one later. .. I'm very fond of kettle corn though, so I'll have to find the snack pack size!

For a decent snack I cut up a pear (or some kind of core fruit), and have it with a cheesetring (60 cals, and I pull off little pieces, making it take 5 minutes to eat, lol) or 2 yoplait yogurts (35 cal each).

I bought some 100 calorie packs of Baked Cheetos one time and went crazy. That was over 3 years ago and I have not bought them since. Now, if I want Cheetos(which is very rare) I simply buy that 30 cent small bag and call it a day.

It looks like I'm the only one who likes the 100 calorie packs! I personally like them as a mid-morning snack when I am in school all day. I eat one around 10 am and that tides me over to sit through my next 2 classes before I can eat lunch. Though if I knew they would have to tide me over for more than a little while I may not be so fond of them.
