I just inhaled the most delicious salad EVAR.

A ton of romaine lettuce... a little iceberg mixed in for crunch

big handful of shredded carrots

some sliced radishes

small handful of strips of green pepper

a chopped up stalk of celery

about 1/8 diced red onion

an enormous handful of sliced mushrooms

a big tomato on-the-vine, chopped into beautiful wedges

about 1/8 cup of shredded non-fat sharp cheddar

two crumbled up strips of turkey bacon

a couple of tablespoons of a mix of lite blue-cheese, lite ranch, and lite Catalina dressing.

I was starving and now I'm stuffed and I didn't count the calories and I don't care. heh.  It was delicious.

Be jealous.

sounds DELICIOUS.

OM NOM NOM!!!

with only 2 tbsp of NON FAT cheese, 2 slices turkey bacon, and LITE dressing what would be the point of counting it? you know that it was low cal...maybe 100-150 cals so it's not like it would have hurt you in the slightest.

glad you made something tasty!! shows that sometimes we can stretch our cals farther than we think :)

mmmmm that sounds awesome

my personal favorite that I like to make is romaine, grilled chicken, vinaigrette dressing, reduced fat feta cheese, walnuts, and apple slices. sometimes I'll have it without the chicken and it's just as delicious.

Dude I love a good salad!! My favorite combo is:

- Butter Lettuce, Olives, Capers, Roasted Red Peppers, Grape/Strawberry Tomatoes, Green Beans, Whole Eggs, Olive Oil Poached Tuna, Black Pepper, Sea Salt, Red Onion Slivers, Anchovies, Artichoke Hearts & An Olive Oil, White Wine & Dijon Mixture to top it off!

**LIP SMACKIN' GOOD! ha ha!**

I wish I had all that stuff to make a salad :(

I luvs all the veggies you put into it.   I would have prolly used pork bacon tho. Hmm..maybe next time try it with grated parmesan cheese and a vinaigrette.  Hmmm maybe I should lol!

Meh. I like my salads with a little more real food and a little less "lite" substitutes, personally.

Amen to that meryl :)

Oh man, turkey bacon ROCKS when it's microwaved crisp.

Awesome, in my 1500 per day diet (down 45 pounds so far since July 9th!) I have a GIGANTIC salad for dinner literally every day. Actually weighed everything one time and added up the calories....about 145. If I throw in something 'special' I always add that to the 145 base....1/2 a tomato, chicken breast, shrimp, et al.....

Have you tried any of the WALDEN FARMS dressings? Our local Albertson's (Jewel/OSCO) has the Sugar Free (low fat) Ranch and Thousand Island....and you can order NO CALORIE dressings from their Linden, NJ website.

Awesome taste and a refreshing change from Balsamic Vinegarette, Red Wine Vinegar with Spenda, or No Fat Raspberry Vinegaret....

Anyway, the human body is not designed to eat/extract the nutrients from raw vegetables. We are not Ruminants, and cows with their extra stomaches are tremendously ineffecient in breaking down the cellulose walls of vegetables. If you cook vegetables (steam them for a short period of time), you triple the nutrients absorbed by the body...

So a large salad is basically a "something for the mouth to do stomach filler" that passes through the body..... without eating sugars and fat calories that are readily absorbed by the body and go directly to our waist lines and belly (at least for me).

The kids get a kick out of Dad pulling out the huge bowl and sugar free low fat dressing for his nightly feed......

 where'd you hear that?

The best salad:

Spinach&romaine

Lots n' lots of tomato (my fav)

cucumber

pepper

carrots

avocado

1 hard boiled egg

lots of chickpeas

balsamic vinegrette (just balsamic, olive oil, oregano)

simple, but delish. Awesome with raisins too! pair that puppy with a sandwich, and i'm good to go!

indeed... get rid of all that processed, chemically enhanced crap and eat REAL food. It will do more good for your body and metabolism, even if is is a little higher in calories.

some shredded chicken breast, or a big peice of salmon, olive oil/vinager dressing, sun dried tomatos (in olive oil)... etc. If you eat cheese, use Feta, a little goes a LONG way

These all sound scrummy, but I'm curious as to how you inhaled it? lol

I am jealous.  :D

You had me till the cheese and bacon part.  :)

My favorite salad has similar ingredients, also with almonds and dried cranberries with a honey mustard/balsamic dressing.  Yum!!
