Injured Lower Back...Help Please : (
Hey everyone. My lower back was pretty sore last thursday after I did some kettle ball swings for the first time in a while, but last night I had a basketball game and now I can barely walk it hurts so bad. I think I just strained something but I need it to heal quickly. I'm 16 and work out often. I need to stay in shape for basketball but I have no clue what to do so that I don't agitate it more. I was thinking light cycling or swimming? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
at 16 you really shouldn't be having problems with your back. SO any sign of injury should be taken very seriously. I Strongly suggest you ask your mom or dad to take you to the doctor.
yep back pain is not common in young people. I am 20 and went into to see the doc because my back was hurting, 3 hours and several x rays later they told me I had a compressed disc, something not common in young people.
So see a doctor, my doctor said they only thing I should do if I felt like exercising is the eliptical for 20-30mins...
ugg i hate the doctor. but i guess ill have to go thanks for the input
At 16 I broke my L5 vertebra and ignored the pain, continued to play both soccer and volleyball, and the fracture ended up healing incorrectly. Now I'm 23 and have 3 herniated discs. I made it through college playing soccer (until another injury ended it) but some days I can't get out of bed it hurts so badly! My advice is to go see a doctor ASAP and rest your back. To this day I still do not know how i broke it but do not take injuries lightly especially if it hurts to walk!
You should have your back checked out ASAP.
A few years ago I suffered from numbness on my back, legs, and hands for a few months without thinking much of it until one day I was unable to move at all... It turns out I have a couple of herniated cervical discs which were pressing on my spinal nerve. I wore a neck brace for a month, and needed physical therapy to get back to 'normal'. I was recently told that due to the degenerative nature of my condition, I will need surgery sooner rather than later. SO have your back checked.
