Does anyone else ever weigh themselves twice or three times in a row? I have heard of taking averages, which would be normal, but I get back on and sometimes I think I actually expect the numbers to change! How stupid is that? Especially when I'm at my goal weight. I've heard of folks tossing their scales, or forbidding themselves from weighing more than once a week. Perhaps this is the way to go!

Also, my husband deep-fried some disgusting frozen seasoned fries for his dinner last night, and after he ate them he kissed me. I found myself waiting till he was around the corner and then using a towel to wipe every bit of grease off of me, scared the calories might leap down my throat or ooze through my skin...

Is this stupid-normal or crazy-abnormal? Undecided

Uh, sounds a bit worrisome to me, more the towel thing than the weighing thing.

I do the weighing thing because my scale fluctuates sometimes even though it's digital.

The towel thing? Kinda weird. Fat doesn't have fat-cooties.

I weigh myself 3 times in 10 min in the a.m. Just to make sure i get the right number. Sometimes after i work out saturday a.m i weigh myself again just to see the diff. I weigh every day. I cant imagine only weighing in once a week. I would do the same thing if my hubby did that. lol. Its just the fear we have of consuming those bad cals.

Used to weigh 3 or 4 times, but now I just do it one time and it either rocks or it sucks. I've just decided to take what I get and not worry about jumping on and off.

When I was dieting I had my kid hide the scale for a week.

The grease thing makes sense to me. Nice that he can make his own dinner though.

Not that I'm anywhere near my goal weight, so congratulate yourself heartily for that, and don't beat yourself up --

But I do weigh myself at least 2 and sometimes 3 times each time I weigh because I find my scale isn't the most reliable

That said, though, I can only weigh myself once a week because doing so more often makes me nuts and gives me too many ups and downs for one person to bear in one week.

Especially since you're at your goal weight, IMHO weigh yourself however many times you feel necessary to get some measure of accuracy, but only do it once a week -- spend the other days tracking your intake and calorie use and congratulate yourself for what you've achieved!

I step on the scale every morning and every night. I've also been known to step on it several times in a row - especially on my once a week "weigh in" day (the day I record my current weight). This usually is the case when I've been getting a certain number all week and then on the day I record it jumps up 1 or 2 pounds. I do think restraining myself to once a week would indicate a healthier relationship with my scale, but I'm being honest here, I can't seem to resist.

I realize this sounds a little obsessive, but I try to be realistic about it. I understand that my weight will fluctuate, that it's not possible to gain two pounds overnight, and I don't let an unexpected number ruin my day.

I have lost about 35 pounds and whenever I get a number I'm not happy with, I play this trick with my mind...let's say over the course of a week or two, I'm fluctuating between 165, 168, 164, 168...something like that. I stop and remind myself that a month ago those numbers were more like 174, 172, 176, and I know that I will not see those numbers again. It reminds me that I'm on the right track, and that soon the current numbers I'm getting will be a thing of the past.

LMAO, that is true. I was grateful for that. But anxious he would try to make me eat some. Good idea having your kid hide it, my kid hides things and they disappear forever haha.

Good point! You're right, if your weight is decreasing in general, there's no reason to get bent out of shape about fluctuations of a few pounds!

kristen, thanks for your post. I needed to hear that today!! I do the same thing. ;)

I weigh myself everyday.  I feel that this is the only way to stay at or close to my goal weight. If my weight goes up a bit, then I know I have to cut back on any of the extra's I've been eating.

Yes, I will get on and off the scale a few times...digital and sometimes the number can differ. Want to make sure the number is correct. I've also been know the weight myself again at night.

Yes, I am obsessed with the scale!!
