Insanity Workout? Beyond p90x?!
Has anyone seen or tried this yet? It is from the people at Beachbody (same as p90x). I was thinking about looking into after I finish p90x. I just started phase 3 of the Classic X.
I am intrigued by this, I must admit. Here is a video of it so you can see it, looks brutal:

My p90x partner and I have been contemplating getting this. Does it really blow p90x away??
Hopefully, the people who are doing this will post their experience here so those of us who are thinking about it can see how it goes for you first! ;)
YES. Just think of it of Plyo X on Cocaine + Steroids & some gnarly upper body strength training thrown in.
Insanity is quick, and it's interval training. You push it to your limit, and believe me there is none of the half-assed moves you'd get from other test groups from P90x and such. You only get 30 second breaks between intervals, and it is gawd awful tough. I'm willing to show my day 60 pictures at the beginning of August. First Sunday. You'll have proof that this is an amazing program and worth the money investment. ;)

Plyo on Cocaine & Steroids....good description! Yes it really does blow P90X away, IMO. The participants can't even finish the workout, they ALL need a break, and how Shaun T can do most of the workout and still speak is beyond me, the participants can't even speak they are so winded. Great workout, its very fast paced, very few breaks, and just when you think you are about to die, it gets harder! It's great for those who already do P90X and are getting bored.
I just started doing Insanity last week, I usually dont do DVDs at all because I haven't found a really challenging workout DVD yet and this is definitely challenging. I needed some good HIIT workouts, usually HIIT feels like a chore but these workouts are fun, and I feel like Shaun T is pushing me. I can see myself using these DVDs for a long time.
On another note, anybody ever use Tony Horton One on One, just borrowed a copy but haven't viewed it yet.
do it, do it, do it. you are gonna love it!!! And to Snoopini: wait until you do day 9....you'll be blown away.
^ insanity freak
AWW come on, now I'm SCARED for day 9
!! Will I be disabled and hobbling after Max Plyo? I'm already blown away (heck, the Fit Test by itself is a great workout) and I'm assuming it only gets worse! I'm sure when I get to Day 9 I'll be saying WTF!!
Dear Insanity Nuts (especially Snoopini):
Check the link on my profile for a good blog on Insanity. My favorite post: "Insanity vs PMS".
Also, a really good article on interval training. I think you'all might like it.
You all have a good week and KEEP PUSHING PLAY!!!!

Thanks for the link to the blog, lots of great stuff to read.
I was so psyched to get to Day 9 after what you said but I came down with the flu! ![]()
I've been sick for almost a week now. I'm just going to start over, hoping to feel like myself by Wedensday, sucks but what can you do.
Did you do the whole program?
i have been travelling and with a bad knee so i have been touch and go. I hope to get in full swing sometime next week. the plyo is fun but i have a bad acl so i think its a batter of time before i visit the orthopedic surgeon :(
will keep you posted.
Oh that sucks! I have back problems so I have to ease up on things on occasion too. I was initially just going to do the Insanity dvd's on my non-lifting days instead of the cardio or HIIT that I usually do. Now I think I may scrap the lifting for the two months and just do the whole program. I'm sure my body could use a shake up at this time. I take muay thai classes 3 times a week so I consider myself in good shape. I'm always looking for ways to increase my endurance. My husband loves P90X so I tried it but I was able to get through them the first time I tried. I was looking for something that I couldn't get through the first go round and this is it! I read Oxygen mag and saw a post in their forums from a girl who does fitness competitions and she said she almost puked, so that's where I first heard of it. At least I know these dvd's will keep me challenged for a long time. I am going to start fresh on Monday and go by the calendar. Good luck with your knee & keep me posted! I'll let you know what I think of day 9!
^ For my first week and a half, I couldn't get through an insanity workout without feeling like I was going to toss my cookies when there was only 10 minutes left. It's some tough stuff. And I was in the same boat you are, P90x didn't do enough for me. XD
Recoveerryy week.
God, I am so grateful for it.
My joints are bleh. I feel so tired. My back aches.
But maaan my body composition is lookin' good. XD I start "month two" on the 6th. I'm a bit frightened because there's a lot of push-ups, and I don't have range of motion or speed with my push-ups (unless I'm on my knees.)
Do you guys listen to music while doing insanity? For the first week or so I didn't, but I gotta admit, the music they chose for insanity is gawd awful boring.
ON the question of Insanity Workout Prices
I got mine form Extreme Fitness Results (see link at the start of the thread). The 10 DVD workout is awesome and its $119.85 and shipping is around $10 less than getting from beachbody. Luckily i live in Miami and I was able to pick it up at their offices.
They also have an Insanity Workout Deluxe Edition (13 DVDs for $160) and the Insanity Workout Recovery Edition (13 DVDs plus 2 tubs of p90x recovery drink that lasts you 60 days) .
I spoke to their customer service and they told me that they would soon be selling the extra 3 DVD workouts as a separate upgrade. NO price yet but they figured it be around 40 bucks.
Its not cheap but its worth every penny.Have a mop, a bucket, and a defibrillator cause YOU WILL NEED THEM.
