Interesting people you've met while travelling

I remember this one time in Munich, I was staying in a hostel that opened only in the summer. It was basically a huge marquee on a concrete base, and when you arrived you were given a camping mattress, blanket and the key to a locker. So you just set up your mattress anywhere you liked, and around the marquee there were a couple of people playing cards, making music and so on until late into the night. Next to my mattress was this young American guy on his first visit out of the country. We got to talking, and chatted even about contentious things like politics and religion. We were having a great time (and agreeing about a lot of things) until about 4am, when I must have said something that made him realise I wasn't Catholic.

"Wait a minute," he said, looking worried. "Do you mean I've just been talking all this time to a... a Lutheran?"
