Interval Training on the Elliptical.....
I have read that interval training is a good way to burn calories because your body can get used to doing the same routine. Yesterday, I did 60 mins on the elliptical. I did 10 mins on an "easier" level and then 20 mins on a harder one, and so on, mixing it up every ten minutes after that. Is this a form of interval training??
Kind of. There are different forms and that is good what you did. HIIT s a little different. You warm up at a slower but still fast pace for 5 minutes or so. Then for one minute bump it up to a pretty fast but steady pace. Then go all out for 30 sec. to a minute. Bring it back down to the previous level again for 1 minute to regain strength and then go all out again. Push as hard as you can. Repeat 6-10 times or however long you can. If you can do it, starting out more than 10 times you may not be pushing hard enough. I sprint on the elliptical and the treadmill. 3 times a week opposite of my weight days. It keeps your metabolism reved all week that way.

I am currently doing interval training on my eliptical and I don't go for that many minutes at a time. What I do is in blocks of 15 min each. I start running a set RPM for two minutes (my target heart rate zone), increase that to my max HR for 1 minute, slow down to my lowest HR for 2 minutes, and then my max HR for another min.
I will alter this depending how winded I make myself, but I do this for 15 minutes total. I try to get at least 5 minutes at my max HR within that 15 mins. I will then do crunches and upper body strength training for 15 - 30 min before I get back on the eliptical for another 15 min.
This has helped my lose another 2 inches around my body since I started it. My muscles are also becoming more defined and a lot stronger not like they were when I would run for an hour or more each day. I hope my experience helps you to find what will work best for you. I would recommend getting some ideas from the HIIT workout and modify it to your needs and fitness level.
Thanks for the tips. I will switch up the intensity tomorrow along with the different courses.
