I thought I would try to get involved in the community.  I am 36 years old, and started out at 260 pounds.  I am 6 feet tall, but that is not really accurate as I have a significant kyphotic curve in my spine.  I have been trying to figure out how tall I would be if my back wasn't curved (I also have a scoliotic curve as well)  I am a father of two little girls (4 and 3), and I want to be able to model a healthy lifestyle for them, plus be around for them as well.  My wife and I have begun to change our lifestyle.  She has lost 33 pounds already, I have only lost 14 pounds.  She started before me so I am playing catch up.

Since I really do not know what my ideal weight is, I have set a goal to get down to 225 pounds.  Right now I am at 246.  I am a little bit overwhelmed with the community boards here right now. I see these clubs etc, and am intimidated.  I would like to be able to provide some on line support to others here, as well as get good ideas about food, exercise etc.  I work out 4 - 5 days a week which includes cardio and weights as well as exercises to help my back problems.

My back is bad.  I experience pain every day.  I need to get that under control, and it is a significant motivator to me.  Every time (daily) when my back begins to hurt, it reminds me how much I need to take better care of myself.  I have made friends with a personal trainer at my gym, and he has developed a program for me which I am following.  I also have another good friend who is a certified personal trainer who also is a big help and support to me.

I hope I can add something to the community, and be of assistance to others.  It is my nature to try to help I guess, seeing I am a licensed social worker, and working on my MA in rehabilitation counseling.

Well, best wishes to everyone here.

hi and welcome!!!  come on into the over 200 club thread...it's a great motivational place!!!  (uh...can you leave your cigars at home though...they give me a migraine...lol)

congrats on your loss and your wifes!!!!
Thanks, I may check that out.
I just wanted to say "Hi" and welcome to c-c.  I'm 33, married, employeed full-time and a mother of 2.  My weight loss goal is about 45 lbs.  I've been back at c-c for about 3 weeks now and have lost about 3 lbs.  Slow and steady.

Anyways, if you'd like to add me to your friends list feel free to do so.  I try to check friend's journals daily and offer encouragement and support.

Good luck to both you and your wife...
Hi back at ya Jennifer.  I haven't started journaling, but may decide to.  Thanks for the welcome.  I did add you to my friends thanks, and look forward to providing some mutual support.
Welcome!  A good way to start getting involved is to keep a journal and add friends who have journals.  More discussion actually goes on in the journals than here on the forums.  You'll find some people you can connect with before long.
