I invented my own diet and it works. I've lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks.

I made up a diet where you just eat the same food every day.

For Lunch I have a can of tuna with couscous, an apple and an orange.

For Dinner I have 2 pieces chicken, 2 slices bacon, 2 eggs and sweetcorn.

I only drink water and loads of diet soft drinks which make me feel less hungry.

Also I go for a walk outside for 2 hours every day.

You soon get sick of eating this same food, but the diet works.

What's for breakfast?
Sounds like a lot of sodium (canned tuna, bacon).

And I'm sorry, but just because diet soda doesn't have calories, doesn't mean it is healthy in "loads".

For the most part, I don't dislike your "diet", whatever works, but the dinner option is random lol. I often repeat the same foods myself because it's new at first and interesting, but after a while I have to change it up.

You've lost weight because you are drastically undereating.  There is virtually no way that meal plan is even close to 1200 calories.  And what happened to breakfast?  And green vegetables, and whole grains?

You clearly state that you will soon get sick of if -- which means that when you go back to regular food (and it won't take that long), you are likely to rebound.  You will go overboard on taste and texture, and probably calories.  You are more likely to put on more weight than you took off in the first place.

There is no quick way to lose weight (short of an amputation), that is also life-sustaining.  Stop trying to do it quickly, and do it right -- the results will be much more satisfying.

And having said all that, I must remind you of the following:

Posting Guidelines

Calorie Count's mission is to promote healthy and sustainable weight management. Please help our moderators follow this vision and respect the following guidelines.

  •
    • Promotion of starvation diets or habits that exhibit signs of an eating disorder ("pro-ana", "pro-mia", etc.) is prohibited.

xavier, I've done every stupid diet you can imagine and I'm going to tell you from long experience - there is no magic diet.  You lost a little weight fast because you're starving.  Soon, that's going to catch up to you, you'll eat, and you will gain it all back, plus a few more pounds.

Click on the Blog tab in the menu bar.  Go to Success Stories and read how real people have lost weight and kept it off.  You will find that every single one of them did it by making a commitment for life to eat and exercise right.

The sooner you get over the idea that a crash diet will solve your problems the sooner you can find your own way to a healthy weight for life.

I don't eat breakfast, and don't like any vegetables except sweetcorn and potatos. I cut out wholegrains and carbohydrates because that is supposed to make you lose weight fast.

I don't feel like I'm starving. Its only late at night that I feel ravenous.

Its not like I'm just eating an apple and a can of tuna all day. Surely thats whats meant by a starvation diet.

No... "starvation diet" is undereating in calories.  You can eat the same food every day if that's what floats your boat.  But everyone else is right - there is no way you're even eating enough to even cover the bare minimum your body needs to sustain life in a coma!

There's more to starving than just clasifying it as eating an apple and can of tuna everyday - and you, my friend, have pegged it.

The "loads" of diet soda that you've decided to consume as a healthy way to lose weight, is just tricking your body into thinking it's full.  But your body is smarter than your head.  No matter how much you try to convince your body that you're eating enough, it knows better and is not only eating the fat that you think is worth risking your health to get rid of, but also your muscle and taking energy from other systems in your body, which will cause them to start shutting down.

Duh.

oh honey. This is not good for you.

Even if it WAS all the calories you need in a day.

All the nutrients you are missing. :( Sad.

The stuff they use to sweeten diet soda is a carcinogen. I drink it a little, maybe two or three servings a week, so I'm not preaching, but please don't drink "loads" of it. It's really bad for you-- worse than regular soda.

In addition to not being healthy, you haven't created a diet until you have an infomercial and "celebrity" spokesperson....

It just amazes me how people can participate in a website with so much useful information and guidance on how to live a healthy lifestyle - continue to not only make stupid choices, but encourage them.

If you're just going to starve yourself, and try to promote damaging habits and crash diets, why are you here?

This!! And, please mind the posting guidelines as coach_k stated. Also, try going to www.nutrition.gov and learning some BASIC info about food and nutrition and then come on back and let us know what you learned. :)

Everyone's already commented on this being unrealistic, so I won't bother, but I would like to comment on another aspect of this.

Another really valuable--and I think, fun--thing about the lifestyle changes involved in a diet is branching out from foods you can tolerate that fit into your diet to other healthy foods that your pre-diet self may have scoffed at.  Maybe figure out what it is about your diet that works for you and substitute the foods for similar-calorie/fat foods and play around with what you're eating.  Heck, even trying out new frozen lunches (Lean Cuisine, etc.) can be fun and make you feel less like you're depriving yourself when you're trying new things all the time.

Variety is the spice of life.  I personally can't handle people who limit themselves to only a few foods, whether they're dieting or they're just picky eaters.  From your vegetable choices, it sounds like you match both categories.   But the great thing about trying new produce is that it rarely breaks the calorie bank.  You're forcing yourself to diet, why not force yourself to eat things you might think you won't like?

Oh and diet pop is TEH DEEEVIL.  Save it for a weekly treat.

Oh man you are doing so much damage to your body.. read a book on nutrition please.

The biggest danger of this diet isn't the lack of calories, it is the lack of vitamens. There is no way you are getting the vitamens required  for your body to function properly. Vitamen dificiency interferes with your brain functions, lowers you IQ, and causes you to do reckless things like skip breakfast and not eat vegitables (which causes more of a vitamen dificeincy, which... Well you see the downward spiral you are on.)

It has also been shown to increase appetite. The irony of diet soft drinks is while they don't contain any calories, they cause you to get the munchies.

I finally swore off soft drinks after I saw my father-in-law use a Coke to clean the windshield on  his car. He had already used the windshield wiper fluid to clean the windshield. He poured the coke on to cut through the junk the wiper fluid left behind. Gotta admit, it did a great job. There wasn't anything left on the windshield when the Coke was done with it.

Sweetcorn and potatos aren't vegitables, they are carbohydrates (so is couscous btw.)

You get ravenous late at night becuase there isn't any fiber in your diet (you get a little in the apple and orange at lunch.)  If you would build your dinner around something high in fiber (like say some high fiber VEGITABLES), or save room in your diet for a late night snack of a bowl of oatmeal (low calories, high fiber) you wouldn't get ravenous at night.

I have a niece that lives your diet. All meat and starch. Won't eat vegitables at all. She's big as a house, and that's the reason. You will NEVER be able to keep weight off until you start eating a balanced diet. Something from every food group (protein, starches, vegitables, fruits, and fats) on a regular basis.

My question is, is what happens when a friend invites you over for dinner? Or a bunch of colleagues invite you out for lunch?

Also, the point of being omnivores is that we are supposed to eat a variety of food. You're missing out on so many healthy and delicious foods...

Don't forget that they're missing out on so many good things, with no point.  You can lose just as much weight eating a well balanced varied diet as you can just eating the same 10 things over and over again.  Plus it's much more sustainable in the future.  And healthier.

Oh, and don't forget the fact that 10 pounds in 3 weeks would normally be considered too much, too fast.  2 pounds per week (so 6 pounds in 3 weeks) is a safer number for a number of reasons.  But if you're just starting out, then losing faster isn't uncommon (or unhealthy, necessarily).  Losing weight too fast may make it more likely to consume muscle instead of fat (your body can only convert fat to energy so fast), and you may be more likely to plateau.

Missing so many vitamins and nutirients.  If you eat the same thing every day, you will start craving the things you need.  Like fatty acids and the Omegas.  Your body needs more nutrients than you are giving it even if you were eating enough.

It'll get limescale off your toilet as well. Drivers of the Coke lorries use it to clean the lorry engines and highway police in US carry a few gallons to clean blod off the highway after car crashes. It'll take rust off a gate and dissolve your teeth and bones.

It has a pH level of ~2.5. Hydrocholoric acid found in the stomach is ~pH2. Stomach acid pretty much never gets near the teeth in a typical person but coke is going into your stomach VIA the teeth!

I put one of my milk teeth into a glass of coke when I was little. It literally turned into jelly

Cool!  I think we've got some of our kid's teeth still kicking around.  Wonder what my wife would think if I tried this experiment.  Be a good one for the kids to see! :)
