Invitation to dine (Just before vacation next week) should I go?

Quote  |  Reply
I have plans to go on vacation next week. I'm very worried about maintaining because when I go off of my workweek schedule, I tend to be looser and overeat. There are so many temptations!

My girlfriends invited me out to eat tomorrow. I have a bikini that I finally feel semi confident wearing and I want to look good for vacation. I'm considering not going because it's a fondue restaurant with cheese fondue and chocolate fondue - two things I can't resist. If it weren't for vacation looming ahead of me, I'd go and enjoy myself, but I'd really prefer just to skip this dinner due to timing.

Am I crazy? My husband thinks I am. He says I should go and enjoy myself. Well, he's not 5'4" and 114 pounds to maintain.

Should I go with the girls tomorrow? Any tips on how not to overeat on vacation?

Im sure your friend would be fine if you asked for  a rain check. Simply explain to her that the timing is bad with your vacation coming up and that when you return you would love to take her up on her offer!

Also, as far as vacation goes! Try to have lots of fruits and veggies, drink tons of water, and have your heaviest meals at lunch time. At least then you will have a some extra time to burn it off instead of taking the extra calories to bed with you after having a big dinner!!

Have fun on your vaca and dont obsesss if you gain a pound or two!!!

Personally I'd go too. Heck thats your GIRLS! They're not going to force you to eat anything :) Plus we are only human, social creatures, and we do enjoy a good meal and hanging out every once in a while.

I'm 5'5 and 121 pounds and even that is a headache to maintain. So I feel ya. Just enjoy  yourself, come back from your vacation, and drop the cals down for a few weeks until you're back at 114. But just enjoy yourself :)

I would go !!!  However, I would probably choose the least offensive food(s) knowing that you're going on vacation.  I would come out and say that I am going away and I need to "budget" for it.  Go enjoy a night out and absolutely have fun on vacation !!!
Go to the dinner but have something filling and low-cal to eat before you go.  A big bowl of vegetable broth takes the edge off the appetite nicely.  Next step.... wear your tightest trousers and clingiest top.  That'll make you physically incapable of eating too much fondue etc.

When you're on holiday, try to eat as close as possible to your normal healthy diet.  Lots of vegetables, fresh fruit... holiday places are usually heaving with healthy things to eat like seafood, for example.  Drink water with meals.  And then enjoy the occasional ice-cream or glass of wine on top without making a big thing of it.   And then see if there are any activities you can take part in .... a hike around the local area, watersports, tennis....  play your cards right and you don't have to gain an ounce.

i would go to the dinner. one night of eating fondue isn't going to make all your weight magically reappear. it's eating things like fondue for a lot of days that make us gain.

you didn't say how long you would be on vacation, but if it's for a week or so, i would take a break from dieting altogether and have a good time with food. just try to keep in mind to eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full. if you're going for longer, though, you might just try to choose places to eat where you can see the menu before going there (like online) and to decide that you will have the healthiest option on that menu when you get there. allow indulgences, but maybe pick a preset number of indulgences you will have for the full vacation and allow yourself a kind of allowance in which you can eat a "forbidden" food x times per week. counting calories on vacation is near impossible, though, at least for me! good luck.

I'd go to the fondue, and try to have something like a broth fondue (sometimes called a Chinese fondue) where you cook meat and veggies in a broth instead of in oil.  That way you can fill up on reasonably healthy stuff, and try to limit yourself to a couple of pieces of cheese fondue.

Good luck and enjoy your vacation!

i think lifes experiences, for example, spending time with your girls, are WAY more important than looking perfect in a bikini. plus, one meal isn't going to make you gain any weight unless you go NUTS.

enjoy the fondue, don't go crazy, and drink lots of water and eat clean for the rest of the time before the trip.
