iPhone Calorie Counting
I know this topic has been brought up before, but I don't know whether its actually being worked on or not. Other people are in the exact same situation, I'm sure.
Anyway I've been using CC for a very long time and I really love it, but when other sites have decent mobile apps available it just makes sense to move my counting entirely to somewhere else. The mobile system CC has is not convenient, especially since I do not have unlimited texts and I would get charged for it.
So I hope CC gets a user friendly app out there soon, since I'd love to come back if that ever happens.
I agree. It's an anitiquated system that works for those who don't have smart phones, but there's no reason why CC doesn't come up with an app for iPhone, Blackberry, Android, etc.
As I said in another forum post, no one has yet done this correctly in the iPhone app store. Some have good apps, but no website tie-in, or a bad website tie-in. Some have a good website, but the app is atrocious. Still others understand how to program both their site and the app well, but the food selection is awful.
So, if CC can swoop in and make a killer app that allows to do all of the basic functionality of this website on our iPhones and have it all tied into the online databases tied to the website, that is KILLER APP. I guarantee it success in the iPhone app store if it were to be done.
I agree. I'm an iphone user and CC would make a TON of money if they put their database into an app. Not to mention all of the trafic they would get on their website.
Please CC. Give us a good app!
Ditto. I would also love this. I would also like them to fix the forums so I can post from my iPhone.
I wonder if they're working on it, or don't have the resources to develop it.
My hubby is a software developer, maybe I should ask him how many hours it would take to prototype. ;)
That's the kicker, kaffwynn. As your hubby will probably tell you, developing this app for the iPhone would simply be EASY for any experienced programmer.
Heck, even just creating a streamlined version of the web page for the iPhone would help. And, speaking as a developer, if you're being told that reskinning your page is a lot of work, you guys need to fire your content management system/developers.
The WAP page is useless, since I can't actually add foods from it. (I hear the blackberry app has the same problem, you can't add foods, just look them up.) And your main page design is so busy, it's nigh impossible to use from the iPhone. Sorry guys, but I'm giving serious thought to jumping ship. Being able to log from where ever I am is the number one killer feature for a diet website.
I have confirmation in an email from someone in support that they are currently working on/testing an iPhone app. So there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
No idea on a time-frame, however.
There is a fantastic calorie count for the iPhone/Iphod Touch at http://www.sparkpeople.com or go the apps on your app store and download it for FREE!!
