Iphone users - Lose it!

Quote  |  Reply

Hey everyone,

I've been counting calories and working out for about a month and thought I would share this amazing app that is free from the app store for the Iphone and has helped me a lot. It's called Lose it! It helps you track calories, weight, nutrients, and exercise. It tells you how many calories you should be consuming to reach your weight loss goal and it has some nifty graphs =).

Best of all, it's portable, it's straight on your phone!

-Hope this helps!!

Just downloaded it and excited to use it! Thanks for the suggestion!

trying it now. I like how it defaults to my exact height. Score one for that

edit: oooh thumbs down. Doesn't let you record weights of foods which is how I measure. Did I miss that feature?

ohh sorry, no it does not. I never record foods by weight so never noticed the lack of that feature....

As such as a pain in the ass this is to do - if you know the nutrient contents of the foods you are eating, you can always put it is as a new food and have it's default measurement be in grams/ounces/whichever. With that, you'll have a permanent record of the food and go to it when you log it.

I love the hell out of this app, as well at iFitness and Pedometer. We need an App thread.

ooo thanks for this! although I loathe the iphone (my daughters constantly begging for one, and my boyfriends is constantly being repaired lol) I wish I could have this on my phone =D saves loading up the laptop, but I'll def be telling my bf about this as it may help him lose the weight he wants to.

For Blackberry users I setup a link to Calorie Counters which allows you to look up foods in the database here. Works well. It does not let you update your records on your account though. I've used it before meals at restaurants for a quick check.

yeah, I do this too. It's helpful before I accidentally eat 1000 calorie

Hi Everyone, there is also a fab app called running trainer 5 k.  It basically is a 10 week programme which will slowly bring you up to running 5k.  It uses your phones GPS to track your run and gives you instructions over your music to run for 1 min walk for 1 min ect building up to longer runs.  There is also a trial lite version which is free for you to sample.  I am finding it really motivating as I am the least natural runner!!  You can also download a version for the standard i pod.

@spirochete

A minor modification to the internal food database will let you have all food measured as grams!! You can download the modified app ver. 1.3 here:

Wow, this seems like a really neat little application. It has a lot of features it seems. What's weird though is that it tells me I need 2200 calories a day to lose a pound a week while on CC, they recommend 1700. I just adjusted the calories on my iPod Touch, so it's cool! Thanks for this, definitely a useful app.

I have lost 37 pounds since I got an iPhone and this app !

Tongue out

i've been using it for awhile. it's fantaaaabulaar.

I find it's easier for when i'm at work and such because i don't have to write down everything i'm eating, and can just input it right there, while it just looks like you're playing a game or something.
I like how it also shows you with the bar meter how many calories you still have left for the day etc. and you can keep track of your nutrition as well.

Gotta love it.

I can't say enough good things about Lose It! It's what got me started on this whole weight loss adventure and actually what led me here to CC... and to these wonderful forums (err... fora?)
