iPod Armband/Sweat Issue

Quote  |  Reply

I got the Nike+ arm band for my ipod for christmas and now everytime I run massive amounts of sweat/condensation seeps through the material and onto/into/around my ipod. I feel this will eventually ruin it so I think it is time to investigate a sweatproof armband. Does anyone have any advice?

Same with me! The old armband for the old generation ipod did not do this... I wish they would make a duplicate armband for the 4th generation armband. Sweat didn't seep through, and it was much easier to operate the click wheel. As for advice, I have none... but would like some as well :)

Yeah, can't handle the armband thing.  I went and bought the cheapo $40 shuffle and now i have a lovely little clip that I only take running...still have my larger capacity ipod...but I put my upbeat workout songs on my shuffle (1gb holds 250 songs).  Way easier and less cumbersome, in my opinion.  :)

Unfortunately the Nike+ kit only works with the Nano... so we're stuck with an armband of some sort, or holding it in our hand...

Best buy sells knock off arm bands that have a plastic cover, it will cover the unit and not allow the sweat to penetrate. It is made with nylon and helps keep the unit dry. Cost is 10.00 US.

cheers

I had the same problem, and eventually switched to a shuffle and the sportband.  and expensive switch when you already have the nike+ and nano, but beats buying a new nano when the moisture ruins it....

I am a Texas marathoner and the heat will certainly make you sweat.  A fix courtesy of my quick thinking brother is Glad Press and Seal.  You can wrap your ipod nano in one easy step and the end seal together making it virtually water proof.  The trick is to then put the earphone coard on the bottom since it creates a puncture when you plug it into the ipod.  This way sweat drips of and not into it.

Has lasted me so far.  HDaccessories.com makes several simple and lightweight armbands that are not bulky and will put a little distance between the ipod and your arm.  Coupled with some press and seal, and you have yourself a $10 armband that will take the heat!
