Has anyone done the 9 day Isagenix Cleanse?
I am on my 2nd pre-cleanse day and a little worried about the next 2 cleanse days as you do not eat anything. Has anyone tried this?
Reason: Moved from WL to H&S forum
What are you trying to cleanse?
I have been really curious about cleanses. Let me know how it goes.
Want to clease your body eat these foods...

I'm still waiting to know if she knows what needs cleansing.
With the exception of spoiled_candy's type of cleanse - eating good healthy foods - cleanses are just a way to get your money. First clue - if they make you buy their plan or product, it's a scam. Second clue - if they never really explain what the "toxins" are, or how not eating gets rid of them, it's a scam.
Maybe the toxin you get rid of is your cash
My Brother in law and sister do the isagenix cleanses once a week... I haven't ever heard of it being done the way you are talking about it. My sister says she feels terrible the day she does it and she hasn't seemed to find any health benefits to it. My husband is a family doc. and says the research he has found on it is somewhat inconclusive, but his personal opinion is that it is not healthy for your body, and that the human body it totally capable of cleansing itself, especially if the right kind of foods are eaten.
I figure, if you aren't feeling very good, your body isn't appreciating it and you should not continue; but you should do whatever you feel is best.
Yes, well, as with all highly provocative blogs, the one mentioned above has an amazing number of comments which refute the blogger.
I drink Isagenix Shakes every morning because I like the way they taste and I feel better when I'm using them. I've done the fast and the stuff you drink tastes AWFUL!! So I don't do that anymore even though I've got two bottles of the stuff in my frig. Two years ago I lost 10 pounds during the 5 months I followed their plan and I've kept it off. Now I'm trying for more and using their shakes but not following the plan (too rigid for my lifestyle).
BTW - Andrew Weil MD is a big proponent of fasting for health. He is like a guru of natural wellness and alternative medicine, written tons of books, very respected but has his detractors as well.
You are right jennytu...that stuff tastes like CRAP!! I tried it once and lasted thru the second glass. The shakes are great, I agree. They are loaded with vitamins/minerals. But the cleansing thing seems a bit extreme. Please be careful and watch for low blood sugar!
I actually love it. The cleansing drink is full of vitamins, and unless your body is used to mainly junk, tastes great. I loved it from day one. I struggled a bit the first cleanse day with caffeine withdrawal, but that's it. After two months, I feel AMAZING. It's not extreme; it's VERY healthy. Cleanse days are becoming more mainstream, with physicians finally getting it together to realize how beneficial they are.

Totally disagree with you. I'm 36, and since using Isagenix, it is the FIRST time I've felt healthy in my life. I feel wonderful; I've lost weight. You need to review what doctors say about the program, then you'd know what the toxins are and how cleansing gets rid of them.
I'm a living example and proof that these products work! I've been taking them since the end of May, and I've had no adverse affects at all!
I've done the 9 day cleanse, twice. I felt fantastic after it and felt great having the shakes every day even after the cleanse. I lost about 7 lbs doing it, and a bunch of inches - but they all came back fairly quickly. I did feel great using their products though. The 2 day strict cleanse is very tough, I felt light headed and very grump with low energy. Plan to not do much and if you can take those days off work.

Could you enlighten us? since you're such a proponent of the 'cleanse' I'm sure you've read all the relevant medical literature. What 'toxins' do we need to get rid of and how does this 'cleanse' increase our body's ability to get rid of them?
Wow. It's like the POW cleanse.
Just so everyone is on the same page, Calorie Count absolutely does not support fasting or cleanses for weight loss purposes and any threads or posts supporting it for Weight Loss will be considered as against CC policy.
Just think about it, guys. If we really needed cleanses, then how do you explain how humans have healthily gone for so long without them?
Here is some info from our in-house nutritionist Mary Hartley on her "Ask Mary" page:
Is it safe to do a cleansing fast?
In many cultures, fasting is used to achieve physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. Brief fasting is harmless, although there is no evidence that it benefits the body. After one day of fasting, the body starts to break down protein from the muscles and organs. Protein is converted into glucose to feed the brain and central nervous system. Less muscle means lower calorie requirements, which can promote weight gain in the future. Food deprivation may also lead to overeating when food is available again. Pregnant and lactating women, growing children, insulin-dependent diabetics, and people taking certain medications should never fast.

Hmm. Is that kind of like the POW diet?
Edit: Durn!! Just realized I got sucked into another old thread.
Yeah starving yourself is awesome! It works for Africa!
