i went to an italian restaurant with colleagues and did not overeat!
imho, this is me begging for a pat on the back and a little encouragement.
well, i didn't eat all that little either, but this wasn't an easy dieting meal 'cause it was family style, and there were practically no salads on the menu.
had: literally one piece of gnocchi, tiny piece of bread (end of the loaf--i got rid of the rest), 2 pieces of calamari, 4 mussels poached in tomato something, salad with oil/vinegar, broccoli salvaged off the plate of pasta with garlic and broccoli, stringbeans with garlic and a piece of salmon.
dessert was a cup of espresso.
come to think of it, it wasn't LITTLE amount of food, but i didn't pig out and stuff my face with bread and pasta. somehow i didn't feel like 15 pounds that i managed to lose were worth ruining over pasta, and this is HUGE for me, since i've been a yo yo dieter for years and have been depressed numerous times over my inability to control my food intake.
yay! looks like even this meal didn't put me over 2000 calories for today! (which is still less than my maintenance)
now, if i could get over this stinking cold and resume exercising.....

That's awesome! Congrats! It gives me hope for myself tomorrow night. Going to dinner with 4 other couples to my favorite Italian restuarant and I'm already nervous.
So great job! Keep it up!

You did AWESOME!!! It's nice to eat out with friends every once in a while. It's even better when you can enjoy it and stay within your goal. :) Kelly
thanks!
i really am trying.
though i forgot to account for a glass of red wine i had.....(bad bad girl)
you'll get through it too, i'm sure. all you have to do is avoid mindless eating and make reasonable choices when ordering, and you'll be fine.
and dont' deprive yourself, otherwise the rebound binge will be huuuuuge........
funny, i had a fortune cookie yesterday, which said "everything in moderation, even moderation". true words....

everything in moderation, even moderation
Hah! I like that. My grandma, who has always been tiny, lives by 'everything in moderation', so now I shall slightly update it with that version.
Congratulations on doing so well. As someone who has to eat out frequently I understand all too well how difficult it is to make smart decisions at restaurants, especially when other people are eating delicious stuff and offering things to you, asking why you're not eating certain things etc. I also went for Italian last night and managed to share a small starter and dessert, and had a salad nicoise without dressing. I still probably had about 800 calories, but I feel it could have been much worse if I'd let my dining partner talk me into drinking alcohol or having pizza or pasta! However, I think the next time I go I'll 'save' a few calories and do a bit of extra exercise in preparation, 'cause goodness knows I want some pizza sometime soon :P

Congratulations! You've absolutely earned a big pat on the back. You should be proud of yourself.
You get a definite pat on the back from me! That's awesome. :) I hope the next time I go out to eat I can have the same kind of control you do!
