Italian sandwich! need help
Hi all.
So I just ate my all time favorite sandwich for the first time in a long time. It was from an italian deli. A nice long italian roll, proscuitto, fresh mozzarella, and red roasted peppers. I got it dry. I ate the entire thing
probably about 12 inches. It was so good though. No regrets, yet. I logged each portion separately and it was difficult! It came out adding up to 1230 for the whole thing! UGH! I mean does this sound right? I estimated about 3 oz. cheese, 6 oz. proscuitto, and the roll at like 540 cals.
Anyone an expert with this stuff?!! I think I will be eating a salad tonight for dinner!!! lol.
Only an expert at eating them... Sounds good to me! I would guess that your calorie estimate is likely pretty accurate.
Yeahh unfortunately that is really high! I wish I would have just eaten half! I can never seem to do that when its in front of me.......
That looks like a good eyeball estimate to me. Restaurant foods are deceptive because of the salt and oil, and it looks like you kept those off. I've found that I have to keep the restaurant meals to a minimum to avoid gaining, and go in with a plan beforehand so that I don't have 1200 calorie surprises. I keep a cheat sheet in my wallet to remind me what to count for a small burger, chili, fries, dish of ice cream, etc.
Do they sell a six-inch sandwich? Maybe next time you could try that. That's what I do at Subway. Before I started dieting, I used to eat a 12 inch one, too. I also get it dry, as you did; saves a lot of calories.
6 oz of proscuitto sounds like a lot?? It's usually really thinly sliced...
sounds about right to me. haha, don't worry about it. I've done that tones of times with other food.
ahh thanks for your replies everyone! I'll tell ya what. The sandwich was good, but I can't say it would be worth doing again for 1230 calories!! Definitely not a consistant meal for me.
li li- yeah I thought maybe 6 oz. was a lot but I figured overestimating is better than under!
