Ive gained over 20 lbs in a month
hello.
im 16 years old and went from around 115 to a little above 135 in about a month. within that month i went to a mental hospital and started on low doses of wellbutrin and respirdol which are antidepressants and antipsychotics. i thought that would explain some of the weight but supposedly wellbutrin's symptom is weight loss not gain.
im an extremely active dancer and have had some problems with eating too little prior to my hospitalization. so im trying very hard not to starve myself but no matter how little i eat i keep gaining weight. its extremely embarrasing to have to look at myself in a mirror 20 hours a week in a leotard and tights with a bulge as a stomach while just about everyone else is stick thin or just plain old healthy thin.
i dont know what couldve caused this weight gain or why i cant stop it. im going to the doctors for a check up in a week or two. but i cant stand this.

look around on this site for similar stories.
You will find lots of information here.
It may have been the medication, though I hate to say it is because if it's helping you feel mentally well, it's so confusing that it may have caused medicinal weight gain.
You definitely should not restrict, but maybe try to not eat a lot of bread/wheat products? Usually that stuff sticks more when you're dealing with altered water weight and the like from medicine.
But definitely go to your doctor. Have you had any other symptoms?
well. as of the past 2/3 days ive been having the worst stomach aches. and somehow today i believe i pulled a muscle in my abs OR something has gone terribly wrong in my stomach wall. id like to think its the first one because it happened during modern class... but who really knows. and well, im going to the doctors in the morning so i guess ill find out. thank you though.
post back here, letting me know what happened!
this happened to me as well... i dont know if its your medication or the undereating part.....but w/ my experience i underate and lost a lot of weight quickly, and then when i started eating normally again my weight ballooned up in a short amount of time. eventually i lost some weight and it stabilized. i am now at a normal weight (give or take a pound week to week but usually around the same weight) and i know i'll never be at my super thin weight but at least i am healthy and not miserable. good luck to you!!!
It could also be a normal growth spurt that is often experienced by teens. You are supposed to get bigger as you grow up.
That's not to say that there might be a medical reason, but that's a question for your doctor, not an internet forum.
