It happened to me, but I lost 50 pounds. How much do you weight now? When your body loses fat quickly it stops your period because your body thinks something is wrong.
what are your stats?
Same thing happened to me from not getting enough fat. I don't have an ED either, but my body couldn't absorb all the nutrients it needed. Plus I am underweight according to all the charts, but my dr. isn't too concerned with the # since I've always been tiny.
Maybe you have low body fat levels now..
im 5'4 and 110, not underweight ... BMI 18.7-18.9
How much weight did you lose recently to get to that weight? You probably should see a doctor, but I bet it's not enough fat.
Yeah. I haven't had mine since I began using this website actively. I eat enough calories... I think it may be fat content, because I really cut down on that a lot. I visited my doctor and he didn't appear to be too concerned about it, just told me to try to add some nuts and peanut butter here and there. I think the loss of period is natural for weight loss and calorie restriction.
Same thing happened to me. I have lost 25 pounds since july, and had one late period, and now i haven't had a period since Oct.1
IN MY OVERALL DIETING EXPERIENCE I'VE LOST 70 LBS. I LOST MY PERIOD TOO. IT'S BEEN 3 MONTHS SINCE I LOST IT AND I SWEAR I'M NOT PREGNEANT OR ANYTHING. THE WORST PART OF IT ALL IS THAT MY MOM HAS BEEN TRYING EVERYTHING TO TRY TO MAKE IT RETURN..THIS INCLUDES GIVING ME THIS NASTY MEDICINE AND TAKING ME TO THE DOCTER EVERY SECOND.
I have lost my period also, I have lost about 100 lb's since last november and mine has gone away. I don't really know whats up with that either. I'm eighteen so I told my mom and I know I'm not pregs she told me not to worry yet!
i haven't gotten my period since june, when i first began losing weight
even after 1 month of serious binge issues, in which i have surely consumed a lot more fat than i used to (even before weight loss), its still not back
:(
idk what to do.
i dont want to take pills for sure.
just a note: losing your period isn't normal, and it isn't good. not neccessarily super bad, but definitely, definitely check with a doctor. look up Amenorrhea on reputable sites like the Mayo Clinic and please- take care of yourselves, everyone
I lost My period at 16.5 last tiMe and 19.2 now. I aM about 18.3 and haven't had it in 3 plus Months. It depends on lots of things not just being too skinny. Lack of fats eaten, too Much exercise, stress, or losing weight too fast.
110 lbs. on a 5"4" frame "is" on the lean side...depending on your build (small, med., large) My daughter is small build...and when she got down to 112 she was very thin...rapid weight loss could have contributed to your absense of periods...14 lb.s in 3 months is what one would consider a rapid weight loss.
Want mine? It comes with half a box of tampons.
Girls. It is not normal to lose your period with weight loss. It means your body fat percentage is too low.
And unless you are an Olympic athlete or a marathon runner:
It. Is. Not. Normal.
Seek professional advice.
hey.. it wont let me reply 2 ur message!! (im the one u were talking 2 yeasterday)
ill keep tryin let me kno if u get this =)
I don't have much advice because I had the opposite problem. About a month into me losing weight (10-15 lbs in) I had a period that lasted 26 days. In the end it was because my hormones were all out of whack. But I would not have known that or known what to do about it if I had not seen a doctor. Please if you are having cycle (whether to long or none at all) please please go see a doctor and have things checked out. Also be honest about your exercise and diet program the doctor needs to know these things to help you.
I would go see a doctor just to make sure. I lost 25 lbs and my period for 6 months. It finally returned this month. Before that I went to the doctor's and they checked to make sure I wasn't pregnant and also ran blood test to check my hormones. Once they figured out that was ok they gave me an ultra sound to see if everything looked ok down there. They then had me have an MRI to make sure I didn't have a tumor on my pituitary gland. In the end, it may have been a pain to go through all that but I'm happy I did. Just because I was ok doesn't mean there couldn't be something seriously wrong with you. I only got my period back when I gained back a little weight and decreased my exercise. I'm really happy with my body now and I think it is happy too.
It is extremely important to get your period back. A major problem with not having your period is that your body isn't producing enough estrogen and progesterone. Without the estrogen, your bones are much less capable of absorbing calcium. This is one reason that many anorexic patients have osteoporosis as early as 30 years old! Even if you don't consider yourself anorexic, you have a low BMI (which is almost at the underweight range) and it means your body is lacking in something it needs. See a doctor for an official checkup.
according to the bmi calculator on this website that is underweight. you should have a bmi between 20 and 24, not 18.9
