Ive been at a plateau for the last 3 weeks. How do I make it stop?!
This is definitely putting me behind. At the rate I was losing, my weight would've been off by the middle of November. But I havent lost a single pound in almost three weeks! Im eating the same, nothings changed. I need to start losing again before I go crazy. Its depressing when the scale just stops in one place. How do I start losing again?
I am 23 and I have lost about 70 pounds. The key to keep the weight coming off is to keep your body in a constant whirlwind. I did cardio about 5 days a week. I am not talking about just getting on the treadmil and moving. You have to change your cardio routine up every 3-4 days. Be sure to play with the resistance, incline, and speed. I would also try to do cardio in other ways besides the bike, treadmil, or eliptical. I usually use machines only to do my warm up and cool down.
If you are also weight training, don't rest for more than 15 sec between sets. That will keep your heart rate up and help you to burn more calories. If you really want to push it, do jumping jacks, bear crawls or mountain climbers in between sets of weight machines. If you are not weight training, you should start some sort of resistance training. The more muscle you build, the more calories you burn per hour.
I could not push myself hard enough in the gym, I hired a trainer and that made the world of difference. I have a hard time staying focused and to keep going when it hurts. He forces me to work harder than I thought I ever could. My workouts are a lot more productive when I train with him and I ALWAYS feel accomplished when I am finished.
One thing that you should consider is ignoring the scale. I know that is hard to look at the number and see that it is not moving. Instead, why don't you take your measurements and then remeasure yourself in two weeks. If you are near the end of your weight loss goal, the scale is going to move more slowly. Focus on your body fat % and your measurements. Good luck!
