So I've Got a Whole Month to Kick My Butt Into Gear!
Hey there to all the college students on CC!
So we've survived finals week, and now have one whole fabulous month off from school! I'm pledging to take this month to eat right and exercise, and try to make some healthier eating habits a part of my every day life before going back to school. Anyone want to join me? I know the holidays seem like a great time to treat yourself, but it'll be even harder to lose the weight once you're back at school. I was thinking we could do weekly weigh-ins and post healthy recipes. Or just chat about college stuff. :] Post your stats, and major/minor if you're interested!
I forgot to post my stats and such.
My name is Adrea.
I'm 18, and a freshman in college.
I'm currently 5'4, 130lbs (packed on 3lbs over finals week, grr)
I'm majoring in legal studies, minoring in criminal justice, hoping to become a lawyer some day. :]
I live in the dorms at my college (I'm at home for break this month though), I have a wonderful boyfriend of 3 years.
I used to weigh 115, but somehow packed on pounds over the summer and beginning of fall. I'd like to get down to 120, then 115. I just got a gym membership at anytime fitness (amazing gym!) and plan on working out 5-6 days a week, and doing some stregnth training 3 days a week.
Ps] I am totally a late night eater, so I'm hoping to kick that habit.
That about sums me up!
Tell me a little about yourself!
-Adrea :]
I'm so in.Yeah finals were hectic and I had no time to exercise and eat healthy.Fast food is the easiest when you have no time to cook due to studying and homework.
My name is Rebecca,
I'm 25 years old.
I am 5'8 and weigh 167. I'm desperate to get back down to the 30's but will settle for the 40's for now.
I am an Animal health Science major to become a Veterinary Technologist. I plan to continue my education and become a specialist in either animal dermatology, animal emergency care or dental.Still deciding.
I have a hard time staying motivted when it comes to dieting.I started cc a couple of months ago and was doing good but school started and all hell broke loose. So I need to get my lazy a** back on track.I hope we can lose weight together and be successful on continuing being healthy and losing weight while in school.
Sounds great! I've got three weeks left of break and plan to make them count. I'm 5'10" and currently 169.5 lbs (scale was lower this morning, yay!). I'm 21 and a veterinary student. I started with CC back in March, had a bit of success, but stopped counting over the summer. My first semester of vet school was really stressful and I definitely gained some weight back - but this is a great chance to start focusing on it again! My goal is ~150, but I may adjust it when I get there.
I'm definitely hoping to keep up with people in similar situations - here's to looking good for spring/summer break, eh?
I'm so glad you guys replied! So, how about weigh-in's on Saturdays? The first being today.
Just to get the ball rolling, what is your calorie intake goal? Exercise goals? Do you eat 5 meals a day, or 3 plus snacks? What are your over-all healthy choice goals?
I try to eat 3 meals a day, plus 2 or 3 healthy snacks. My goal is 1,200 calories a day. So, I usually eat 300-350 calorie meals, and then 2 or 3, 100 calorie snacks. I think I already posted my exercise goals in my original post.
Some of my healthy choice goals include:
-Eat breakfast every morning. (I have a habit of skipping it)
-Eat 3 servings of fruits and veggies every day.
-Eat less fast food.
-Allow myself only one snack after dinner. (Instead of my usual fourth meal, lol)
Hope to hear back from you!
-Adrea
Ps) Any low calorie meal or snack ideas would be great.
I love:
-English muffins with peanut butter or 1 wedge laughing cow light cheese
-Lean Cuisines (particularlly the mac and cheese and BBQ chicken pizza)
-Cambelle's Chunky Chicken Noodle (220 Calories for 2 filling cups)
-Swiss Miss Diet Hot Cocoa with a tablespoon of Light Cool Whip (25 Calories)
-Carrot Sticks and hummus
-McDonald's Chipotle BBQ Snack Wrap and Apple Dippers (Total of 360 Calories)
-100 Calorie Packs (Lorna Doone shortbread cookies, and Cheese Itz)
-12 Corn Chips and 1/4 cup Salsa (150 Calories)
hi. I'm 19, majoring in finance. I'm 5'4 and around 127. i want to get back down to 120 so my jeans fit!
Wow this is the perfect group for me! I started college 112 lbs still wanting to lose 7 (my goal was 105 and I worked all summer)
When I came home...I was 125. I want to be at least in the 110's again before I go back to school - I don't want to gain MORE weight.
I weighed in today, btw, at 124.6
I find myself so in control of how I eat at home - I can prepare all my own meals and know what's in everything.
Today I went to the gym, jogged for 15 minutes and then did 10 minutes interval training (run 2 minutes walk 1) then I did some light strength training and warmed down with 10 minutes on the elliptical. Then I went shopping with my friend and didn't sit down for over 5 hours - so I think today was a day of VERY active. I don't know how many calories to eat today but I know I had some leeway
Healthy goals:
-Prepare meals whenever possible
-don't have unhealthy deserts with my boyfriend
-complain about my body less
-eat fewer carbs and more protein
-Don't binge just because I'm around friends
-Get back into my size 0 jeans
Yaaaaay, I love this group! I am SO relieved finals are over. I could never go to the gym while I had school. I'm using this month off to my advantage. I need to get back on track. I'm 16 but I started taking college classes this year so I'm considered a freshman.
First off my name is Mell!
Height: 5'5.5
Starting Weight: 178 (ew)
Current Weight: 162
Goal Weight: 135-140
I think I want to be down close to 10 pounds by the beginning of next semester.
Major: Pre-med
My calorie intake lately has been around 1500 because I have not been counting. But when I watch what I'm eating I like to keep my intake at 12-1300 ish. I hope this all goes well for us!
Same here!! I think I gained, now, about 10 pounds. I need to slim down to 110, reward myself with 2 pounds, and then start maintaining.
Stats: 5'3", 119, goal at 110.
Just got back from the gym. Did 65 minutes on the eliptical and burned over 700 calories! Woot. It feels so good to be back on track. :]
hey,
I was wondering if I could join? My name is Hope and I'm majoring in human resources and am graduating in the spring. I've been on the weight loss kick for awhile now but am loosing some of the original motivation.
Current Weight: 151
Goal Weight 135-140
hope 232,
Of course you can join! Anyone is welcome. By the way, even if you're not a college student- Feel free to join! We're all here for the same reasons. By the way, feel free do post your daily weigh-ins or just post about anything. I'm not sure how you start an officail group, if anyone knows- please tell me. Haha. So, anyway. I'll be posting how I did daily and anyone else can too. If you had a bad day- you have people here for you. If you had a great day- lets celebrate. :]
Hey! I'm Ocean.
I'll join but don't know how committed I'll stay to this... I'm more active on another site called spark people, you all should check it out!
But anyways, I'm 19, a sophomore (technically junior, might graduate early, haven't decided yet!) i'm a double major, marketing and finance, minor in leadership studies (most fun ever).
I'm 5'2 and weigh 139 right now, I started losing weight in july at 160 lbs, so I've lost 20 lbs but it's been EXTREMELY slow and i'm impatient so it kills me! i want to get down to 120 hopefully by early march!
my plan is to do cardio 6-7 days a week, strength training 1-2 days a week (i'm already super muscular from high school sports so don't want much more muscle)
i also need to stop late night eating. i also have a candy addiction, any candy, chocolate or fruity i love it.. i guess i eat 3 meals a day with snacks, but i basically don't eat meals...like i'll have cereal for breakfast, oatmeal for lunch, a grapefruit for a snack, some sort of pasta or chicken for dinner, and in between i have like fruits and special k bars and popcorn. my calorie intake goal is 1300-1500. Im pretty sedentary other than walking around campus and my planned exercise so i only burn like 1700 cals a day, plus like 300-500 that i burn through cardio.
nice to meet you all!
Hi, I'm Christopher.
I'm 18, and I'm a college freshman, with a Math major hanging over my head but in reality I am undecided. Math was my worst class this semester (I got a B so I guess I shouldn't worry too much)
Either way, I used to be 187 pounds, then the summer before Junior year of high school, I got down to 156 and have stayed in the 150 range ever since. I've wanted to lose another 20-25 pounds (I'm only 5'4 which is D: short for a guy) but I haven't been able to stay motivated enough these past couple of years to actually do it, but now I am, and I hope to stick with it.
College is probably the worst and best place for me to lose weight. On the one hand, my only meals are a sandwich for lunch and GORGING myself for dinner at a buffet, or sometimes doing that for lunch and dinner, but on the other hand I have a free gym membership which has been vastly underused.
My goals: Lost that extra 20 pounds I'm carrying around, find ways to eat better when in college, and getting my sorry butt to the gym. (Oh, and not parting so much/so hard next semester...)
: )
Hey Ocean!
Thanks for joining. :]
I used to use sparkpeople as well, but found that there were some very young, and quite immature people on the site. I prefer CC, but thats just me. :] Congrats at losing 20lbs alre'ady! Slow and steady wins the race, so don't get discouraged. Studies show that slow weightloss is the best kind, and that you are 10 times less likely to gain the weight back then with a crash diet. So, keep up the good work.
So, what is everyone's goal for this month? Mine is 6-8lbs. Thats an average of 1-2lbs per week. Which is considered healthy. I'd love to loose more like 8-10 since there are exactly 5 weeks until I start school, but I think that might be a little unrealistic. :]
I'm down~ I'm a college sophmore majoring in Literature and Cultures, but I'm planning to go to Medical School..dunno what type of doctor but I really see myself in a little hut in a developing country not making a lot of money..but it's all good because I'd love it. Anywaayy..
I'm 5'2 and 120lbs. I fluctuate between 118-120lbs a LOT. It's ridiculous. I got down to a low of 116, but that didn't last long. My plan is to loose weight to make it easier for me to work out when I go back (such a good idea guys!). I'm hoping to loose at least 2 lbs this month. Yup, two..lol. Maybe 2 more in Jan.
My main goal is to lose enough weight to be back in the 110's, so that'll be 4.6 lbs now. I'd love to be like 118 before I go back.
I was super active today, I went to the gym this morning and then I went shopping for 5 hours and didn't sit down. Then friends came over and we played board games, so I definitely burned some calories in that whole thing - not many, but I think I'm safe eating 1800 today. I had only eaten 1400 and I was about to go to bed and decided to have an english muffin with PB to get the cals up - don't want to go into starvation mode.
I went shopping with a friend today who is also health conscious and dieting - she's gained weight too since I last saw her this summer and she is definitely in starvation mode - she won't lose any weight, she exercises for hours everyday, and she eats about 1000 cals. Though I don't know how accurate her estimates are - she had lunch today with me and got a subway italian sub with extra cheese and 3 cookies - I think that's probably 1000 cals right there. She's definitely not thin, not fat or anything either but not as thin as she should be for all that activity and healthy eating. She's been talking to her doctors and I tried to explain starvation mode to her but she told me she tried everything, 1500 calories, 1200 calories, 1800 calories, now she's down to <1000. She's about 5'2" 150 lbs. I felt so bad! I want to show her this site I think so she can figure out how to lose weight.
lafoutloud,
going below 1,200 is not a good idea. thats good that you don't support your friend's unhealthy weightloss efforts. i'm not sure how old you are, but people tend to exaggerate their unhealthy habits to get attention sometimes. i don't know who has time to exercise for hours a day, and it sounds like 3 cookies and a sub would be a whole lot of calories. anyway, i would recomend having your friend try to make healthier choices and get a better idea of what healthy weightloss is.
Hi! So i'm only a sophmore in highschool, but have like the exact same stats as you:) Im 5'4, 130 (kind of flucuate b/t 128-132) and am looking to first get down to 125, then 120. So i thought it would b good to be in a group with someone who is kinda in the same situation. Oh and i usually go for about 1500 cals a day, but the past week i have definitely gone above because of holiday treats and things relating to that, but i guess today is a new start! And for the past two-three weeks i have only gone to the gym about twice all together, but now since were on break i can go as much as i want! i went yesterday and it felt so good after basically not doing anything for a while.
im a sophomore majoring in nursing. Right now I am really interested in psych but i am also considering going for my masters and getting a PA...still thinking
im 5'8 and now down to 124. The only thing i want to work on is to tone up those problem areas that most of us are cursed with. I hope to see some difference before i have to get myself ready for another semester of stress and insomnia. I aim for 1200 everyday but its sometimes more or less depending on my schedule. i let my self have a cheat day every now and then. I am a veg. and love my fruits, vegetables and whole grains. A little dark chocolate now and then is always a nice treat too:)
