if you like sashimi (raw fish) get that. Each piece (no rice) has like 25-40 calories (tuna and salmon being fattier).

If you dont try a cucumber (or cucumber and crab) roll.

Always miso soup!!! (only like 50 calories).

I used to have a little Japanese for lunch on a regular basis, but then she moved out to Calgary.  Oh, you were asking about food...never mind...lol..

Cold soba noodles with their sauce and that small egg they serve with it. Mmmm delicious!

UD

California roll- Yum.

Its only about 280-290 calories for 8 pieces

Japanese for lunch is "hirugohan", apparently. Wink

A hot bowl of udon would taste good today.

But ramen's Japanese, cheaper, lower cal and easier to find.  Mix in an egg, some minced garlic and hot pepper sprinkles to pick it up a little.

Thanks everyone.  I had a grean bean roll! YUM

Whoa, not sure what restaurant you go to, but as a general rule udon is WAY lower in calories than ramen. A bowl of udon is 350 - 500 calories, and a bowl of ramen is usually 500 - 700 calories (of course, there are lots of variations upwards and downwards)...

mmmmm - sashimi is amazing! my favorite types are sake (salmon), unagi (eel), hamachi (yellow tail) & escolar!!

Oh and if your sushi place has a thing called Hamachi Kama on the menu - ORDER IT, you won't regret it!

I agree about the zaru soba. I usually get that and the kappa maki (cucumber roll).

If you like sushi, then any of the sushi are good choices, and to eat more loading up on calories, eat the sushi withOUT rice.

Mochi, I was thinking about a pack of ramen or cup of noodles.  But you're right, it's more calories than I expected - 350-400 with the egg.  I ended up with a bowl of pho instead.  When it's way below freezing outside and the wind is blowing soup tastes good.
