Jean Sizes ?

Quote  |  Reply

So I'm 5'8 and Size 5 or 27 Jeans .

Whats weird is that I'm about 150 pounds . That seems kind of weird . I certainly don't look like I'm 150 but is that a "normal" size to be ? By the way, I'm barely 14 . Yep, it's true . SurprisedSealed Btw, I'm a girl . In case you didn't already figure that out . Tongue out

im 5'7 135 and size 6 i beleive 10UK. Youre right the numbers dont seem to match up however you are only 14 so im assuming you are naturally toned and therefore able to weigh a little more than you would look.

Is it possible that your scales are off? I remember my parents were about 10lbs wrong and i only found out when i weighed myself on another set, i was so shocked.

Its not the number on the scale that important, its how you feel about how you look. If you are a size 5, and look and feel good, then throw away the scales.

My guess is that a lot of those 150 pounds are muscle, which weigh more than fat. :)

I'm 5'7.5" and probably built pretty similarly to you, I am a size 8/30" at 170lbs.  When I was at 157lb I was a 6/28"...so I don't think it's weird at all.  Even now, 20lbs up, I don't have a tummy, I don't really have a big chest or butt, I'm pretty much solidly average, but I weigh a lot more than I look like I do.

Be happy that you probably have more muscle mass than the average girl, so really, you will likely have a higher metabolism, which is awesome.

Don't worry about the scales if you're feeling/looking good!

I am 5'8" and 142 and I wear a US 10 - don't know about Uk numbers but what I found out is that people - no matter what they weigh are shaped different and really you shouldn't base how you feel about your weight on the size clothes you wear.  Do you look good and feel good?  Those are the most important things to concentrate on!  If I focused soley on my jeans size I would go crazy.  I mean when I see these weight loss stories and these women get up there and claim to be a size 4 or 6 and I KNOW I am smaller than they are - I just think they are lying - but in actuality they might be telling the truth.  Build has a lot to do with it!!

wow 5'8 at 14!! im 20 and im 5'6.5!! i know my jean size is weird too for my weight...i weigh 169 and i wear size 8-9 jeans....and my other gf's that wear size 9's weigh 130 or 140 maybe?? thats what ppl guess what i weigh is 140, but they get shocked when they hear wat the real number is...i have a high muscle mass, and i was told by a professional that an ideal weight for me would be 160...so i know that im never gonna weigh like my other gfs who are the same size as me...OBVIOUSLY whoever determined wat the "average" weight and size of a woman is was by a man, cause clearly they dont know wat their talking about :P ! lol

Build does have a lot to do with it.  I have very small hips for my size - if you could actually believe the size charts in catalogues, my hips would be about 8 sizes smaller than my bust and waist (if you count the difference between 8 and 10 as two sizes).  I find that my actual pants size is only a tiny bit higher than what the catalogues say for my hips - and not remotely as high as implied by my waist measurement.

If you're only 14, your hips may not have filled out yet - which is why you can still wear such small jeans.  Perfectly normal, and nothing to be concerned about.  Also, you're quite tall and a tall girl who weighs 150 will be slimmer and wear smaller clothes than a short girl who weighs the same (as a general rule; assuming similar muscle-to-fat ratio and bone structure).

with your pants size i would not worry what the scale says- you are fit and healthy!

Run down of my jean size over age and weight at 5'8"

age 14       weight ~115     size 3

age 18       weight ~130     size 9

age 21       weight ~155     size 10

age 23       weight ~170     size 14

age 24       weight ~140     size 6

Conclusion:  Don't put a lot of consideration into the size it will change as you age and lets face it even within the same brand of jeans.  It sounds like your weight is well distributed on your body (tummy fat is the worst for you and if you can fit into a size 5 you can't have that much) so as long as you feel healthy don't worry about the number.

5'8ish

Size 1 or 3 depending on the brand.

5'6 age 11 weight--- 135 size 7

5'7 age 12 weight--- 112 size 1

current 5'8.5 age 13 weight 120 size 3 or 5
