Do your jeans feel looser in the winter?

Quote  |  Reply

Hey, I've noticed that during the colder seasons, my jeans feel loose around the thighs part. But during the summer, my thighs feel super huge and my jeans feel tight. I was thinking maybe it's from the coldness, you know how cold things contract and warm things expand?

Does this happen to anyone else?

Hmm...interesting question. I know my rings always fit much more loosly in the winter. I talked to someone about this and we decided that cold weather=constricted blood flow to extremities=shrinking fingers.

Thighs though? I have no idea.

Good question. I'm curious now.

when your epedirmus/skin is cold, your veins cuddle up to your bones as to not loose heat through skin+pores.  When your warm, your veins go closer to the surface and try to get rid of heat through your skin.

i dont know if thats the reason for it,

but its an abstract yet possible one.

this happens not only with clothes but with pretty much anything but it has to do more with the skin rather than anything else. you dont lose inches really, lol if not wouldnt that be fabulous.

Whenever I wear rings, or my watch in winter, they sort of slip out but it always happens because of the cold, it doesnt mean I lost inches or anything :P

My jeans are always tighter in the winter.  The holidays really do a number on me.  This year is going to be different...

In the summer, you sweat more. When your body is dehydrated, it holds on to all the water it can once you replenish it. In the winter, I doubt you are sweating at all, so you are probably properly hydrated most of the time.

Just another factor in addition to the constricted blood flow. :)

nope, opposite for me. weird..

Humidity makes you more susceptible to, and worsens water retention.
