Jeans and the over hang belly???

Quote  |  Reply
The jeans fit around my big hips, but I HAVE to have a top that covers up that fat over hang. It looks soooo PooPy :(
It makes it hard to wear jeans. When I wear elastic (sp) pants it looks better cuz' it just drops down to my feet, but I hate fat clothes.

Anyone else have this problem? If so what to do about it?

Are you currently dieting or exercising?
Get a bigger sized pair of jeans, that way they wont push the fat to hang over. ...If you know what I meen. =P lol
wear a fitted shirt...that's what I do
Baggy sweat shirts for me! As I'm losing weight, I notice it less. I have about 4 different size jeans in my closet so I can take my pick! LOL!!
I've seen a lot of girls with this problem, and I think it has a lot to do with the fit of the clothing.

You say your pants fit you in the hips...but are they tight in the hips?  if so, go up one more size.

if they're not tight in the hips, you might need a different cut.  gap and abercrombie are good with sizing for all different shapes of girls.

also, a nice button-up shirt usually has enough extra fabric at the bottom to cover up the tummy, and keep you looking stylish at the same time.
I agree -- get jeans that fit properly. Not all brands work for all body types -- just keep trying different brands until you find the one/ones that work for you. Happens to all of us! It's NOT YOU, it's the clothing!
Ok, my fat is on the inside. It doesn't hang on the out side of my pants.

Ok hummm...... my strechy jeans are on and fit nice. No problems zipping up. But once zipped up, IN THE ZIPPER area is where the belly hangs. Like a big LUMP of fat in the sipper area. I'v hade 2 c-sections so some of you may know what I'm trying to say.
I used to have this problem. As you lose weight you will notice it goes away. My belly still has a little flab but no overhang anymore. Also as you lose make sure you are doing a lot of crunches and other exercises for the ab area.
Hi there, I call it the Mushroom Top.  It will go away once those jeans are a little looser.  I can wear size 12 no problem, once I throw on the size 10 there's that darn mushroom top...
I've heard the term "muffin top" before too
It's not your fault!  It's those stupid low rise pants that seem to be the only thing sold these days.  Buy pants that have a normal waist instead of those that ride on the hips.  They make everybody look fatter than they are.
Ha Clairelaine!  I love the low-rise...and agree with others...try the next size up...
I agree with you Claire...saw a woman at the store, in great shape that still had the 'muffin top' from her low rise pants, and she was dressed in business wear....did not look very appealing ...in my opinion.
The first thing I would say is go up a size but the cut of the jeans is as important as the size.  If you go to the Gap, they have different jeans cut for different body types.  Pick a type that works for you.  e.g. The straight cut works for me as I have no waist , i.e., the difference between my waist and hips is not significant.  They also have curvy for those with a smaller waist but heavier hips and thighs.  You sound like you should try the straight cut.

Also, how new are your jeans?  They will stretch (provided they are not the stretch variety.  I hate stretch jeans... unflattering and terrible at maintaining shape) so go with a pair that fits a little snugger than you usually wear them.

At the end of the day, lumps and bumps are never attractive.  Go with a size that fits and you will look slimmer and more elegant.  As for the number inside, noone sees it but you! :)

Hope this helps.
I second everyone else, you have to find a pair that fits...don't worry about going up a size, you'll look better if the jean fits better.
yeah i know wht you mean. Happens to me lol. Usually that problem happens with lower cut jeans. I know it is in trend etc. Just get 1 size bigger to make sure it wraps around the buldge prone area, or buy the one that is not so low cut. Avoid wearing tops that hugs your waist hips, or mid area too, because it will accentuate the bootie part ^_^;
As everyone else said, it looks like you are buying the wrong size jeans.  That won't happen if you get a good pair of jeans that fits properly.
I'm with Claire on this one.  Try a higher rise.  It doesn't have to be the super high rise but just try going up a little to a mid rise jean, it'll make a big difference.  Also try a size up too, sometimes that works too.  It all depends on your body.  But the low rise jeans that have been "in" the past X years only work well on girls with boy figures and there are very few who can pull it off.  Most women have hips, we're supposed to have hips and a low rise cuts us at our widest part making us look our widest and pushing the fat all in the wrong directions.
Don't wear stretchy jeans. Jeans with better construction will be much more flattering, especially in a darker wash.
My skinny friends call that over hang "muffin top". My problem is that my hips are so big, I have to buy bigger jeans to accomodate that problem and end up having a 3 inch gap in the waist line! Wonder what you would call that.... "the plumber" comes to mind... LOL
