Jennifer Love Hewitt on the cover of People Mag

Quote  |  Reply
I bought the latest addition of People today, though haven't had a chance to READ it just yet.  Anyone else know what I'm talking about here, about Jennifer Love Hewitt under scrutiny/ridicule for looking 'fat'?

I COMMEND her 100% for speaking-out.  Good for her!  Though she is admittedly larger than we are USED to seeing her, she is certainly not 'fat', and looks glowing and happy.

Man, you could not PAY me to be 'famous' like the celebs of today.  I love my privacy!

My wife showed it to me and asked the same question. She isn't terribly pretty to me but she has a great body still and me personally you can't be natural breasts and a natural curvy body. Also glad she is speaking out, good for her.
I always felt bad for celebrities for being under scrutiny all the time. It would be totally unbearable to me :P

I'm glad she is happy with her body, because that's what it really matters. Besides, if she's skinny, tabloids would blare how "anorexic" she is, if she' fat, tabloids would go on how she gained weight and such. There's no appeasing with tabloids. So it's just good for her that she's happy with how she is now.

There was quite a debate on the JLoveHewitt subject in the Lounge - here's a link to the thread.  :)

I really feel awful saying this, but she looked pretty large on the People cover. Maybe the camera is adding pounds but there is a dramatic difference between that photo and others from not too long ago. She looks like she had gotten bigger.

I think she came across worse in her response to the photos than she would have if she didn't say anything at all.  She says "a size 2 is not fat," which to me sounds like she is saying she is a size 2 (it's irrelevent for her to bring it up if she wasn't saying she was a size 2). She's right, a size 2 isn't fat, but she's also not a size 2.  If she were really not so concerned with her self-image, she would have given her true size.  It's hard for her to attack the gossip press like this and then subsequently lie about her size.
I think she looks great myself no matter what her size may be. She is by no means fat. She is healthy IMO. I am sick and tired a stick thin being the only acceptable body type for women. Anything more and you are labeled as fat. Gosh I hate labels we(society) put on people.
she still looks hot imo

Real women have curves!

that's all I have to say to that.

Who cares is she is or isn't a size two and whether she thinks she is? She looks fine. I totally agree with the 3 responses above me. She shouldn't have had to stick up for herself and her body in the first place! It's totally ridiculous!
She's still gorgeous and utterly adorable despite her weight gain. I wouldn't mind looking like her. I couldn't care less what she weighs because I enjoy watching her on ghost whisperer for reasons completely unrelated to how she may have gained a few pounds.
I guess people, especially women, like to revel in celebrities having flaws so as to make themselves feel better. It comes down to women being insecure and overly competitive. It's petty and silly.
JLH is and will always be hott

I thought it was weird how she said "she was on vacation and should have been enjoying that instead of worrying about the photos"

hey. your a celebrity. the world is not going to be nice to your weight gain. I know its not right, but she should have known the consequences.

wow schnooder. that's kinda harsh...

the thing is, people gain weight when they get older. she might have been effortlessly a stick when she was on party of five and the i know what you did last summer movies... but she was young! and your metabolism catches up with you. she is by no means fat, but she probably can't get away with eating what she was eating before.

i think it's too bad that she had to worry about the photos. it's too bad that she has to care. it's too bad that we all have to care.
Don't people become actors and singers in order to be famous celebrities?  It's part of the career to have the details of ones life be entertainment in people magazine.

well reality is a harsh thing. thats what happens when your famous.

She should have known the consequences?!? What bs. So she's been a little more relaxed than usual in regards to food and exercise, that doesn't mean she deserves such backlash. Perhaps she is preparing to conceive and thought she'd have a better chance with a little more meat on her bones...

I dont really get what people dont understand about this.

She is famous. She has gained weight. Is anyone ever nice to overweight celebrities? Is the magazines like oh hey jennifer has gotten fat but thats ok shes still beautiful?

No.

People say that she is, but the media is not a nice place.

Its not bs, its the truth

No wonder Britney is insane now, because people like you just accept the "media" and accept that celebrities are meant to be picked apart for every flaw they have. Hello, the media is made up of people like you.

god, apparently people are too stupid to know whats real.

She is going to be picked apart no matter what

"people like me" know this because its fricken true.

I do not agree with the magazines and television with criticizing her body.

I never once in my posts said that I agreed. I said no matter what the spotlight is on her. Read my *ucken posts before you challenge me. I could care less about celebrities and what they look like. But if they are going to gain weight and expect people not to make fun of them, thats their deal. I dont care.

Actually I have to disagree with this statement. She chose to be a celebrity and at the age she started, the media and paparazzi were nearly as bad as they are now. Actors know what they are getting into! You wanna be famous? Well guess what. You will be under a microscope the rest of your life. It comes with the money, fame and fortune. Get used to it!!

That being said, I think she looks great. Next to most any "real world" woman she'd look hot. Anyone can get an unflattering photograph taken of them. I think she's great, and smart, and real, and attractive.

But I don't think she has a right to whine about the media. It comes with the territory. I do think the media are irresponsible in calling her fat. Mainly because of folks with EDs or body image issues; they will see reports like this and think "if she is fat, what does that make me?" It would make me morbidly obese. Which I'm not.
