Edit: But distillation of spirits didn't begin until about 300 years after the time of Jesus.  Distillation results in a much higher concentration of alcohol in the beverage.

 My point exactly.  Thanks.

no, cass, this wasn't your point.  wine is not distilled.

I thought Jesus was a vampire, and he fed on the blood of young, innocent souls.

I must have the wrong version of the Bible.

(That was a joke. I'm really not an ass.)

What did Pontius Pilat eat? He looked a lot healthier in the movies.

Edit:Wink

I've heard of Daniel's diet which is very strict but I don't know if Jesus ate the same way its a 10 day diet promisses you'll lose 20 lbs....haven't tried it.

What Would Jesus Do for a Klondike Bar?

 A Miracle.

"And with the wave of my hand, this chunk of granite will become...a tasty ice cream sandwich"

There's a thing called the "Maker's Diet," which basically outlines it. :)

I have the book, and it basically has a lot of healthy fats (olive oil, real butter, nuts) and avoids pork and certain meats and most processed foods.

It does seem really healthy, and the guy's story is inspirational!  He had some kind of terrible illness where he couldn't keep any weight on no matter how many calories he ate (like, insane amounts), and then he tried this "diet" and gained like thirty pounds or something.  I guess it would be ideal for a recovering anorexic, too, because it is good for your overall body, including skin, muscles, hair, nails, et cetera.  :)

Hope I helped! ^^

Why don't you just read your Bible?  All your questions will be answered.

^^ I think my verbal exclamation at reading that was heard all the way down my dorm hallway.

Lovely :)

The Romans had a very interesting diet.   The legends of banquest with ostrich heads and stuffed dormice with honeycakes make it down the centuries!!  But the regular diet was much simpler.  Grain based... wheat or barley bread with homegrown veggies, olive oils and some fish.  Cheeses and eggs if you could afford a cow or some chickens.  Occasionally meat.  Milk was mostly reserved for babies.  Their wine was pretty strong stuff so it was watered down for the table.

As I said before, you don't have to go back to the Old Testament to eat more healthily.  Leave out most of the junk invented in the last 50-100 years and you're instantly better off.

Which lends the question..

I was kidding. This whole Jesus foods description makes me hungry. I am sure if we a similar diet...we would all be much healthier.

What did Buddha eat though?

Whatever Buddha ate, I don't want it, lol!  Wise he may be, but thin he is not!  I don't know, I mean Buddhists are supposed to follow the middle path and all, but with that beer gut, I don't know how much Buddha himself knew about "everything in moderation!"

Also, the Romans apparently thought that cabbage was a cure-all.

If you are really interested in the foods Jesus ate here is a book to get out of the library.  The Makers Diet by Jordan Rubin.   It does not promote pork at ALL.  It is considered a dirty food.  Just imagine how unclean a pig is and then think about eating what they were swaddling in.  Sounds yuck.

Take care and God Bless.
