So Jillian just came out with this new program called the 30-day Shread. The DVD is only $12.99 on Amazon. It has three 20-minute workouts, each harder than the last. The idea is that you take 20 minutes each day to put in a SOLID workout, and you can lose up to 20 pounds in 30 days! She also has a book that includes recipes and dieting advice to go along with the DVD, but you have to purchase that separately.

I LOVE this program. I only bought the DVD. I'm following my own diet (which isn't very strict, just sensible). I'm on Day 6. I've lost 3 lb so far! I'm already seeing an improvement in muscle tone in my thighs and arms. I can't wait to see where I am in 24 more days!! This is exactly the butt-kicking that I needed to get me motivated and back on track!

So yeah, that sounds like an ad. I apologize. But that's honestly truthfully how I feel about it so far!

Does anybody else have it yet?

I just started on May 1st.  I have completed level 1 everyday so far.  I can already feel it getting easier.  Until now I had been using a stair climber for cardio (the past year and a half) and weight training (since Feb this year) but after loosing 30lbs by cardio I have been on a plateau for 10 months now.  I decided to give the 30 day shred a shot, I feel like I have tried everything else.  Is anyone else having a hard time building muscle?  After all the weight training I have done (lifting more than double what I could when I started) I don't see any difference on the scale, in measurments, or visible muscle tone.  Hopefully the 30 day shred will break this plateau.

Are you eating in surplus. You will not see any muscle gain without a surplus in your diet.  Have fun with Jillian, she is a personal friend of mine and...she will kick your ass - in a good way! :)

I am eating at a deficit since I am still trying to loose weight (1300 cals).  According to calorie count I burn 1750 before any exercise (5'8" 141lbs 24yrs).  I am trying to eat plenty of protein to limit muscle loss.

20 Pounds in 30 days is pretty good for 3 20 minute workouts.People need to relize though you have to diet as well to lose the pounds perminently.

There's really no way to build a lot of muscle with these work outs. I use them for cardio since they KICK MY BUTT. As far as muscle, it's too much flinging around of lighter weights to build any muscle

I don't know about the other stuff; measurements and weight loss. If you're not losing weight, I'd look at my diet. Maybe if you haven't been doing any weights at all you're getting some water retention since there is some lifting involved, albeit light

I just ordered this DVD, 2 2lb hand weights and an exercise mat (all for $34, free shipping!). I'm really excited.

I attempted to do the ones that are on youtube from the DVD and what I could do in the area I was in was kicking my ass, so I look forward to being able to do the entire thing.

Question though: What do I log it as? Circuit training?

this is my 22nd time doing the workout dvd, day 2 of level 3. I've probably taken rest days every 3rd day on average but still do something active like light pilates or a bike ride on such days. anyways i've only lost probably 2-3 lbs since starting this and maybe 2 inches overall.... i dont seem to be getting the same awesome results as everyone else >O i eat a bunch of protein to help my muscles too

Ok so I just finished my first 10 days on level 1.  I lost 2lbs and 1inch off my waist at my belly button!  I just finished my first time doing level 2 and I felt like I was gonna die but I did it and I know it will get easier just like level 1 did.

Current stats: 24yrs 5'8" 140lbs

I have been doing this dvd for 4 weeks and have lost a total of 9 inches!!! Im over the moon.  Details are :

1 1/4 inch from bust, 2 inches from waist, 1 inch from hips, 1 1/4 inch from each thigh, 1/2 inch off each arm and 3/4 inch from each knee.

Ive only lost about 4lbs in weight but my clothes feel so much better.

I am going to continue with the DVD as I think its fantastic.  I alternate between Workout 2 and 3 (in fact i find level 3 easier than level 2).

I have also started using these videos and they are great!

You can watch them on youtube to give them a try. I did that twice and then bought the dvd. Love it.

I started level 1 two days ago, and it feels great to be pushing myself this far.

I've changed my diet to eliminate junk food (which wasn't that hard... wasn't a big eater anyhow) and have been eating all low fat dairy and organic chicken/ham.

Just a question about the dvd though: Once done the 30 days, then what? I would like to continue doing the shred *hopefully* for the rest of my life, and I was wondering what Jillian suggests for those of us who want to continue exercising past the 30 days? I watch the dvds on youtube so I don't get the extra info, just the workouts.

(I don't like using the gym, and I feel I get a better work-out from the shred anyhow).

Any of you have tips for someone looking to implement healthy choices into their lifestyle? I'm 20 yrs, 5'5" and 145 lbs. Not necessarily looking to drop a lot of weight, but just to slim up/get toned.

thanks!

dspringall10: I was wondering the same about what to do after the 30 days.  I'm on level 3 now and since I've started this program I've noticed great muscle tone especially upper body (shoulders, chest is perkier, arms toned etc.).  I think that I will continue to do this workout but maybe increase the weights that I'm using.  I use 5lb or 10lb weights but I'm thinking that if I go heavier I may continue to tone and see results if not maintain.

Jillian also has a couple more dvds out there and one of them is supposed to be similar to The 30 Day Shred but with more circuits.  I may try this also after I'm done with The Shred.

have you noticed any weight loss/gone down inches?

I'm looking to slim down my thighs only, really. I'm pretty happy with my curves :)

I personally did not lose any weight from this dvd but I definately lost inches and my clothes fit better.  I think overall it has given me a nice shape because I like to keep the curves too.  When I first checked out reviews on Amazon.com many people said that they lost weight.  I think it depends on the person and how much lbs you have to lose.

ah ok I see.

What have you found works the best for fat loss? In terms of both exercise and nutrition? I'm hoping to make a gradual change and maintain it. No rush, really, but bikini season is upon us :)

I just started this yesterday- and I honestly didnt think I was going to be able to finish the 1st level!  But, I pushed, and I did it, and the exhaustion I felt after made me feel great!  I've tried several other programs, and the only one that made me work that hard was the Carmen Electra Stripaerobics DVD- but as much fun as it was, I am not in enough shape to do all of the moves she was doing.

I had been doing 45 minutes of Wii Fit and an hour of Denis Austin, but the 20 minutes I did with Jillian worked me so much harder!
I can't wait to see if this really works!

dspringall10: I think that as long as you incorporate weight training AND cardio and by eating more healthier foods you should see a change.  I believe that we should find an exercise we love to do.  I love Turbo Jam and 30 Day Shred.  Also, by tracking what we eat here it helps to see where we may be going wrong in terms of what we put in our bodies.  I'm all for still being able to have a treat every now and then but not gorge of junk food like I did before.  Also, eating out and sugary drinks both alcoholic and non can really sabotage weight loss efforts.

Sarah: The dvd gets easier as you do it.  You'll be surprised by how much easier it becomes after a while.  Of course, each level brings on a whole new challenge to push through.  I'm sure you will see a difference if you keep at it.

Does anyone here only do the 30 DS as a workout? Have you seen changes?

I've been doing just the shred so far... doing light cardio here and there (ie: walking 5 mins to work and back, twice a day)

no changes noted as of yet, but I'll keep you updated :) I'm so interested to hear from others doing the shred and their successes!

around 241 cal..in just 20 mins:) not to shabby!
