jogging on the spot vs. jogging

Quote  |  Reply

Beacuse i dont have access to a tredmile and i live in a busy area for excerise almost everyday (4 times a week usually) i jogg on the spot while typing up homework, reading or watching tv. What should i log it as, in the activity log (im currently using just "jogging"? Is this worse, better, the same as etc as regular jogging?

log it as jogging. its the same
so u r jogging in place? If i am right then put it as that...jogging in place. there is a log for this because i do it too. i dont have a treadmil and the wheather is too crappy to run outside. So i run in place. Hope i helped :)

That's good to know.  I always need winter exercise ideas.

your burning, but not as much as jogging.  when you run your not only lifting your legs but your also propelling your body forward.  When you jog in place your not and you therefore burn less then if you were running.

The treadmill burns less then running but more then jogging in place when its on lowest height.  If you up the incline to 3 or more you will simulate that forward propulsion and burn comparable calories.

^^^ Would that be true for a treadmill too?

"Would that be true for a treadmill too?"

I don't think so, because the treadmill provides resistance, albeit artificially, so you're still propelling yourself forward.

hehehehe ilove when people say "jogging on the spot"
