Quote  |  Reply
So, I'm really excited I have done 2 work outs since joining last Friday, I have already lost close to 20 lbs with out excersizing and I also know this is not the healthy approach . So I also joined the 6 week solution what I got out of the orientation is that it's simular to weight watchers but with a high protein or high carb approach. We took before pictures and I am hoping this will help me break out of the 165-170 mark! ANyone out there have good results from curves please let me know!

I really enjoyed Curves for the first year or so that I was a member.  I wish you all the best.  If you do atleast 3 workouts per week religiously and make sure that you're giving it your all (not just existing through it), you'll see results. If you're sedentary now you'll see results with less than that.

I left because they kept telling me I was doing the machines wrong and the time tables didn't match my schedule at the time.   However, I would highly recommend it to someone who is looking to get fit.  Once you've found you've hit plateaus at Curves I highly suggest going above and beyond to find other activities you really enjoy.  But Curves is a Great start.

I posted about my Curves experience on another thread. For some reason, I can't copy and paste it so here's the link: http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/5552 7.html

From the poster above: "I would highly recommend it to someone who is looking to get fit." Personally, I would only recommend Curves to someone who was looking to lose weight. The workout is very repetitive and in order to get really fit, you need more variety.
I joined Curves after my first son was born, he's 5 now.  I lost the baby weight quickly and was very happy with the results.  I wasn't an exerciser before the pregnancy.  I did hit a plateau after about a year and a half of going  though.  No matter how much I did the machines and dieted, I wasn't losing any more.  After the birth of my second son, he's 16mos, Curves did nothing for me.  I didn't lose any weight...and only a few inches.  So I quit.  I believe that your body just gets used to the same exercises over and over, and then you stop seeing results.  However, I did enjoy my time there and it was a great place for me to be introduced to exercise.
LOve Curves

I have been a member of curves since April and it has helped me even when I was fighting problems from BP meds...I joined the 6 week challenge on Saturday after speaking with a member who did the challenge last year...she lost 36 lbs  (in 4 months) and has kept it off and now eats over 2000 calories  a day...she is in her 60's, so if she can do it, I can do it!

I am having trouble getting my calorie count up where it belongs and I was not eating enough protein...if I can learn how to keep my calorie count up so that my metabolism is more revved up, it will be a valuable lesson for me...I am notorious for skipping meals and starving myself....and I hate it.

I want to eat like a "normal person" and I am hoping this will help.

Good luck with your exercising!  I applaud  you for joining and I hope it works for you...I do believe that you will ultimately get out of the circuit training, what you put into it...

I do 4 circuits at every visit 3 to 5 times a week......my neighbor does 2 circuits 6 times a week...it works for both of us.

    Have fun with it, too!

OMG Curves is great I have been a member for a little over a year now and after the fisrt 6 months I lost about 55 pounds and went from a BMI of 39 to 23. I go 3 to 4 times a week and on the days I don't go I jog/walk 3 miles. Curves gives me a ton of motivation, I love how they measure you once a month and keep track of your progress. I used to keep my progress chart posted on my fridge :) I think its fun and has a really comfortable vibe to it, that was pretty important to me when I joined.

Also like "what color is..." said if you give it your all you will definately see great results. Honestly before Curves I was the laziest person you could ever meet. Now I have so much energy and I love the feeling of a good workout.

I'm just finishing up the six week solution and have lost over 10 lbs on the program. I'm doing the higher carb version. I do the Curves circuit about 4 times a week and ride my bike about an hour to an hour and a half 3 times a week. It is working out very well for me. Not only have I lost 20lbs and many inches, I really like to workout again. The staff at my Curves are wonderful folks, so I look forward to going--Good luck.
