Joined the YMCA ! YEAH! :)
Well we did it. My husband and I and the whole family joined the YMCA in our area. My hubby and I did our first workout this morning there. We did 20 minutes of weight machines for upper body. Then 40 minutes of cardio on the treadmill. I did a steep incline and boy was i sweating after that 40 minutes. My heart monitor said i burned about 410 calories in that 40 minutes! :) We are taking the kids tonight to swim there. Im so glad i joined and have done something for myself for a change. I have lost 50 pounds since January of 2008 (since the birth of my baby) he is now 13 months old now. I have been at a stand still though can't lose anymore weight so i thought exercising more would help and the Y is already motivating me! :) Well just thought i would let you all know i did join today. Hopefully the scale will start moving again!

The YMCA is a great place! I have worked for mine for 5 1/2 years! Congrats!
Cool! I would love to work there one day too! So what classes do you go to there? My hubby and i were kind of interested in the yoga classes but he is afraid he wont be able to do all those stretches they do ha ha ha I may try my first step class tonight.

Neat :] Good for you! Just remember to eat that little more on the days you give yourself a workout so your body is well fuelled and can properly repair. I'm not allowed to do any of the cardio machines due to my present weight, but I participate in the yoga and pilates classes with my mum (she goes to help with her sciatica, my sister and I are the motivation for her to go, lol) at the gym my family's joined up with from time to time. They're good fun and easy to get into the swing of.
So lala what actually do you do in yoga?
congratulations agentstarling, l think the Y is a wonderful place to be. l too have just started going to the yoga classes, l still can't do all the poses but if l keep going, one day l will be a master yogi....lol l will be taking adult swimming lessons soon.
Oh yay! I joined my local Y a few months ago! It's such a great place that the whole family can get involved in. There's so much to do and everyone is so great! I love the community atmosphere of the Y! And just keep on keeping on! You'll keep exercising and feeling better and better every day!
I love my Y. I love the Pilates and yoga classes they offer. Re: yoga, as long as you attend a beginner yoga class, the instructor will be able to have something for everyone in the room regardless of ability or familiarity with yoga. They usually ask if anyone is new to yoga, and if you get there early, I'd go ahead and tell the instructor. Also tell him/her if you have any major conditions, like a bad knee, etc. so they know to come up with workarounds for you. There is always someone in every class who seems to be made of silly putty and makes it all look super easy. Don't let that intimidate you. You're seeing a combination of genetics and months or years of practice. Namaste!
Yep I love the YMCA. And the classes rock! I got a free 6 month membership for being on a local t.v. show about getting healthy. My personal trainer wants me to go to the classes because she says I would get past my comfort zone. And she says you gotta leave the comfort zone if you want results! YMCA are the best. And providing childcare, how awesome is that for us? Congrats on your membership and to a healthier family!
Congratulations! I go to the Y every morning and I love it! Good luck on your weight loss, keep up the good work!! ![]()
