So judgmental!
Tisk tisk girls! I feel like I'm in a school yard!
I'm sick of reading judgemental posts. If you don't like the way someone spells, don't read their post. If you don't like a question, don't read the post. If you don't want to read about people looking for support for their diets.... don't come here!
Gesh. Isn't this supposed to be a place where people can come for support and guidence? Posting topics JUST to critizie other people is petty.

Welcome
You've had a hard day today. This whole calorie restriction thing is a drag, you're tired, your boss is annoying you, and all you really want to do is relax a little.
Well, my friends, this is the place to do it! Sit back, put your feet up, and talk about whatever's on your mind. Celebrity Gossip, the latest in Movies, TV, Books, or Video Games, or this funny joke that was sent to your email, or just chat through the workday with us in one of our chats. This is the place to do it. :)
(...)
To answer you in similar manner - if you don't like judgemental posts, don't read them
And more seriously - different people regard different things as "judgemental" and sometimes they just write what they honestly think (which, accidentaly, is what the OPs often ask for, and then feel attacked just because other people think differently). It's impossible to spend the whole time wondering if something we said offended any of the countless thousands reading the posts here. My personal opinion is that we'll be better off just accepting this simple fact. Otherwise our mental health is in great peril ![]()
Absolutely agree! I hate seeing the negative comments in the posts. We are not in any place to judge others or their behavior. HOWEVER, we are here to listen and provide support. Opinions are great and I certainly have my own but don't bring someone down with hurt-full comments.
We are all the same - we all joined CC for the same reasons. Some of us are overweight, some have ED, some just need someone to talk to the maintain...it all boils down to FOOD and how we deal with it and trying to be healthy.
Look out for some 'not-so-nice' posts coming your way. I wrote a similar post and it didn't go so well : ( I don't know how to link it to this thread...but you can see it in the list of threads I've participated in and/or started. Good Luck!! : )
bummer -- I want to hear peoples opinions...isnt that sort of the reason for posting?
inlove07 I read the replies to your post and some were pretty funny.
We all understand that no two people using this site will see things in exactly the same light - Yes???
So - that said... perhaps we all need to be the bigger person and allow those with different or opposing opinions to have their opinions. If you do not agree with someone's opinion, then you are free to express your own opinion. In doing so, please also keep in mind that we also need to respect other's feelings.
The old saying goes: "sticks and stones may break my bones..." but let me correct this second part of this saying - Words DO hurt!!!
Lets all play nice! :):)

Oh I definitely want to read different opinions. Otherwise I would write down what I'm thinking then read it.
But it annoys me when people go out of their way to insult and belittle other people. This is a support website. Not a grammar website. Not a high school. It just seems that women fall into stereotypes incredibly easily.
i think a lot of people pretend to want advice and feedback when what they really want is a pat on the head.
i also think a lot of people want to comiserate, which is fine, but swapping stories between a bunch of people who share the same problems doesn't necessarily get you any closer to a solution.
I know exactly what you're getting at.
I see it a lot too.
A lot of catty ishes on this forum, let me tell you.
I personally hate the posts in a thread that point out there's already a similar thread.
Clearly the person didn't know, give them a break! I don't see why it's such a tremendous deal. Ignore that thread if it bothers you so very much.
There's one person I can think of specifically that does this way too much.
Now it's back to the books for me :(
Fun rant though.
if the OP of a thread doesn't like the responses they are getting they are within their rights to request that it be locked.
You know.. we get this sort of post alot. People are too mean, too judgemental, too.. whatever.
All I have to say, in response to that is.. Calorie-Count is a community. Like any community, there's some troublemakers, some whiners, some pains in the arses, etc.
Treat Calorie-Count the way you would a workplace or a church. Get to know the people who seem interesting to you. Ignore those who don't.
Don't expect we're all super supportive or super nice or whatever. Especially on the internet where, unlike a REAL community, people actually have the cajones to say what they want to say because you can't do very much to them at the end of the day.
That doesn't mean you can't find what you're looking for. If you're looking for support or help, it's out there. Let me point out a relatively new function, Calorie-Count Groups, where you can get support and help about ANYTHING. Or just sit back and talk about anything else.
Mostly, though, I'm just going to counsel you to get to know the people whom seem decent and you like, and ignore the rest.
Hey people, it's judgmental NOT judgemental.
;)
The devil made me do it.
Original Post by yellowthunder:Why is everyone singling out the women? The OP even begins with "tsk tsk girls". I've seen insulting and belittling things written by men here, caloricat's notorious thread insulting half the human race comes to mind.Oh I definitely want to read different opinions. Otherwise I would write down what I'm thinking then read it.

Obviously because CC is sexist. ![]()
Seriously - if you're going to tell tell people "ignore the bad grammar", you can just as easily ignore the "judgmental" (by whatever standard you use) ones.
This isn't junior high where we're forced to see the same people in study hall everday. Don't take things so seriously, and embrace the empowerment of the left mouse click. That being said - please play nice.![]()
Also, it is difficult to guage the mood or atmosphere of a post. Sometimes a person could be responding with humor, and is percieved to be pissed off or offended. I have noticed when I think a post is "typed in anger" I tend to read it very fast and miss alot. That's one of the drawbacks to a disscussion thread, you loose the ability to see someones body language, tone of voice, or even expressions!
But you do get to erase what you type and put something else down with no one the wiser! Can take it back in a face to face conversations*_*
you can also block people you don't like.
I wonder how many people have me blocked?
Bah, I don't care.
i care! i wish there was some way to find out; we could have a contest!
i tried blocking CD, but everytime she posted something, i'd have to unblock her to see what she said. it got to be very time consuming!
