20 pounds by July 31st Challenge!!!
I know this is a hefty challenge, so only people that are serious, want to work hard for it, and wont get their heart broken if they don't meet the deadline!
I'm doing this by eating very small meals throughout the day, getting up early to exercise hard at the gym each morning for at least an hour, and cutting out sugar and wheat.
Just like an athlete trains to get in shape, I'm training hard for these 9 weeks and then I'll slowly back off and add 100 calories per week until I'm at my maintenance level.
It always helps to have each others support!! Want to join me?

I don't have 20 pounds to lose, but I do have 10 pounds to lose! I would love to support you and receive support also! I am getting married August 2nd, and I need to lose 10 pounds by July 31st.
I plan on doing this by working out 5 days a week. Increasing my protein intake to 20grams per meal, and keeping my calories between 1400- 1500. I need to cut out sugar except for weekends, as well. (I want to allow myself weekends, so I won't go crazy)
I'm in! Woot woot!

Congrats on the engagement charityjoy, that's some serious motivation :) I'm also a complete romantic so I don't blame you wanting to be the best you can be for your man. Kind of one of my motivations in a way also.
And lovelymom23... that will be awesome to get under 200, definitely a defining moment when you step on that scale. Not that we should live by scales...
And everyone else, I'm glad that you're in.. even if this is your ending weight goal, or just a chunk of it -a big chunk! This is exciting! I know just after one week we'll have so much motivation seeing the changes in our bodies, especially with some visits to the gym added in there. We need to do this for ourselves, and to be able to offer our best to our loved ones and the people around us. Not letting food control us, but just finding the natural weight we were made to be.
Let's share our game plan, stats, and any ideas or tips we have!
Then we can weigh in next Tuesday....or the two week mark. What do you guys think?
I've counted my calories, keeping them between 1450-1550. I have bad days, but I never let it get to me. It seems like I need those days to remind me of what my goal is. For the most part, certain foods do not call my attention anymore, like soda and most fast food. I go to the gym 4-5 times a week, going strength training, alternating between legs & abs and arms & back. I then do 30-1hr of cardio. If I do 30, then the intensity is pretty hardcore. I eat breakfast everyday, that is so important, you'll feel better if you don't eat it already. I am so excited! I cannot emphasize how important diet is to weight loss as well as water intake. Lets drink water, eat healthy and get active!!!!
You just made me go get a glass of water :)
I wanna join in too! First time posting anything so bear with me :) I kinda started in January Start weight 250, as of today 223. Would love to be under 210 by July 31! Ultimate goal is 155. I lost the first 25 just by walking and stopped drinking soda. So now I actually want to diet and make an honest effort at working out. Good luck everyone!
Currently at 156lbs, want to be between 140-145 by the beginning of August... going to see some people who haven't seen me in a while, and it's going to be at a beach, so!
Let's go!
i have senior pics on july 31st and being 20lbs lighter would be awesome.
Stats: 5'6" 167lbs goal 147lbs
ibez, yes it is more than 2 lbs per week.
There are 65 days until July 31st, so 9.29 weeks. If someone lost 2 pounds per week that would be 18.58 pounds, so we're only talking about less than 1.5 more. That means if my numbers are correct that you'd loose 0.31 pounds per day, instead of the "healthy" 0.29. I don't think being 0.02 off for 9 weeks will do harm. As for the deficit, each person is different and for someone with a daily expenditure of 2,000 and an added 500 at the gym... meaning expending 2,500 total and eating 1,200. That's well past the deficit you need and in 9.29 weeks one would lose 24.15 lbs if we went by the numbers.
Thanks for being concerned, I wouldn't want to promote something unhealthy.
Some people can do this and some can't, and like some already have they can choose their own goal that's best for them.
Sounds good to me, anyone else have opinions? We could think of some way to organize it...

I do not drink any pop (havent for 6 years) and I do not eat fast food. I measure all my food and only eat the serving size of everything.
