***July***Weight Loss Challenge--Sign Ups Always Welcome!
Welcome to the **July** Challenge!
If you’ve participated before, welcome back for another month! To all those who have not done this challenge (or any other) welcome aboard newbies!
The challenge is pretty easy & does NOT require a long term commitment. You pick a goal weight, and post your progress each week. You are NOT in competition with the other challengers—in fact, you are encouraged to cheer each other on. This is about having a reason to stay motivated throughout the month’s weight loss journey and having a place to post your progress to help you stay on track--some "extra" accountability for your actions because you know you aren't the only one who will "see" the results.
We'll have 4 weekly weigh-ins in July. I will not put weight data on the spread sheet until you report your weight info for the first weigh in. Our weekly weigh-in dates are July 3, 10, 17, and 24 with a final weigh in on July 31, 2009.
Weigh-in days are on a Friday...I did this because we started late for July and because some people do not prefer weighing-in on weekends. I personally could care less, I'll weigh on any day of the week; but, it's nice to switch it up every now and again.
I will normally post results by Tuesday—I will NOT email you to remind you to post.

Made my goal and close to my final goal of 128 but still have a pound or more of flab on each thigh so going to shoot for 125 long term. Three pound loss isn't much but with my record it is terrific!
The changes that I made this month were to not have any processed foods, including breakfast box cereal. Everything was made from scratch or natural except for 3 chocolate treats, staying within target calories and it appears to be working. Steel cut oats breakfast and homemade protein bars for snacks.
'One cannot make a lifestyle change if they don't make a lifestyle change'.. I read somewhere and that is so true! Good luck to everyone else.

I apologize for not quite being on top of the results spreadsheet. Though, at least I was honest at the beginning in telling you all that I may not be able to swing getting it done. Truth in advertising?
My birthday was on Monday....July 27th. I am now 32 years old!
In other news, the reason I've not been able to take care of the spreadsheet is because I've been taking two firefighting courses and an Emergency Medical Technician-FR course this summer. All three will finish next week and I anticipate earning "A" grades in all. As a matter of fact, just this evening I passed my EMT-FR practical skills assessment exam! Yay! Just one more written test next Thursday and I'll have my Emergency Medical Responder certification. Then it's on to EMT school August 24th. No resting for me! LOL
Due to my workplace obligations and EMT school, I won't be able to pick up next month's thread. Would anyone like to host the August challenge?

One thing about training for firefighting is that my workouts get creative. For example, I bought a 50 lb bag of rice at COSTCO - I practice carrying it up and down the stairs! ![]()
Thanks also for offering to host the August challenge. I say just go for it! That way the thread can be set up ASAP in time for people to sign-in. I think we lost some people in July due to the delay we had in figuring out who wuold take over for AKgirl.

Hurt my knee so I was only doing light walking this month. I think my big drop at the beginning of the month was mostly muscle. Still, I'm really happy with the month. I had to give away my clothes and buy thrift store clothes. The knee is good now and I'm looking forward to a big month next month. Happy Birthday Kelly. Glad to see you back Oarsman!
