Team, I screwed up really bad yesterday, went 900 over. How do I fix it over the course of the week? I still really want to be one pound lighter for the beginning of may. my target for starting may 1 is 130, and i'm currently 131. =(
What do i do? Add a little more deficit for each day, or have one really low-cal day?
you maintain your same deficit you've been doing and don't worry about it. 900 calories isn't a big deal, its like 1/4 lb. You're likely only noticing daily fluctuations. That 900 calories prolly had plenty of sodium and you're retaining.
Good morning! :)
Eechie ~ Don't fret over that! LOL It's fine. Just go on like it didn't happen. You'll be fine and it just might help you.
Shelton ~ Your welcome. Sent you a pm.
Remember everyone I am Momof2. Changed my name. hehe Sorry for the confusion this might create though.
This zigzagging I'm doing is helping so far. I say SO FAR! It's tough just eating 1200 on some days though. I don't know how some people do it everyday. I like to eat! LOL
I'm averaging 1300 for the week. I don't think that's too bad. When I eat more, I don't lose. And CC says 1350, so I'm in the neighborhood. I can't wait for my high calorie day (tomorrow!).
I've found what helps me is a reward meal once a week as long as I keep losing. Every week that I've lost at least 1/2 a pound, I get a donut and apple juice for breakfast on Wednesday mornings. I fit it into my daily calories and, boy, is it a great treat. I stop at the bakery on my way to work and make sure I have a healthy lunch packed. That way, I'm not tempted to eat poorly all day.
If I keep continue losing at the rate I am, I'll be 205 by May 1st. If that's the case, 190 will be my goal for July but I won't set it for certain until I know for sure. I am so excited seeing how many people are doing this and are excited about it. We are in for a GREAT spring together!!
Hi I'm signing in too!
I want to lose 18 pounds.... I've just begun my diet so for this time I'm looking for maximum loss. And I'm planning to do that mostly by cardio....
So, good luck to us all!
I am in. Looking for about a 15 pound loss. Do you think that is a good goal? This is day 3 on the site for me so we will see if I can do it!
Count me in y'all. I am in another current group but the more the merrier. I try to be very supportive. My history is in my profile and on my first journal post. My goal beginning May 1 will depend on how well I do leading upto May 1. Let me get whatever devastation is going to occur at Talladega this weekend overwith and then I will be ready to rock and roll. By August I certainly hope to be down to 260lbs, currently 277 lbs. We will see.
Any chance of adding a group goal to the team effort as a little extra motivation?
Anything any of you need from me just let me know. Lets have some fun with this...
Cheers,
JTH
I'm definately in. Currently 188.4 pounds, am trying to get back into shape for my wedding next year (and honeymoon!) I have a long term goal of 135 by the end of April/beginning of May of 2010 (my wedding date is May 21st), and a shorter term goal of 150 by November 1st 2009 (so I can start dress shopping) and a very short term goal of 180 by May 30th (Vegas trip with my two best friends who are skinny minnies). I would like to lose 10-15 pounds by July 3rd.
i will join.
i think i will aim for about 12 pounds because im 142ish right now. so that way i can aim for a nice even number of 130. =]
I would love to join! I'm going to try and lose a few pounds before the first weigh in. I would like to lose around 15lbs. Good luck Everyone :)

It seems reasonable. Given that everyone loses at different rates and given that some people might hit a plateu and others might not, it seems to me that goals in the 10-20 pound range are all fairly reasonable. I would be worried if someone set a goal of losing more than 20 in 2 months b/c then I would be concerned about them starving themselves or something. But that's just my opinion. If someone is severely obese and just starts a diet, it is feasible that they could (healthfully) lose 30 pounds in that time period but for most people a goal of no more than 2 pounds/week if healthy, reasonable, and attainable.
I said earlier that I was in. But we'll see how I do. I just broke my foot and spained my knee and can't put any weight on either for weeks. So I'm not sure if there is going to be anything that I can do except try to eat really, really good.

I feel that I can safely speak for everyone in that we are not judgemental. You don't have to lose weight. We support each other wherever we are. Its OK if you are focusing on eating healthy and can't exercise all that much. Maybe your focus can be not to gain weight while you are on restricted movement.![]()
Thanks for the support guys. Turns out it helped in at least one way- I had the best work out of my life today! I feel like I'm really getting back on track. Two days off the wagon maybe will end up being a good thing.
I love this group. Good job, team.
Hey can I join, even though I'm just gonna start maintaining? Because I reckon it'll be really hard to keep myself motivated to not gain weight again, so I want to join something like this.
Starting weight (on May 1st): will be 64kg / 141lbs(currently I'm 65-66kgish)
Goal Weight (on Jul 3rd): no less than 138lbs, no more than 142lbs. 141lbs ideally.

Tammy, maybe someone can bring you some lower weight dumbbells and you can do some low weight/high rep work on your arms??? Try to use the time to your advantage if you can't work your legs or cardio, work on your arms.

Reckon??? Where are you from JJ? You sound like you might be from around these parts.
WOW, thank you sheltonmath and jigglethehandle for your support already. I have got real dissappointed that I won't be able to workout. Both of you are very encouraging and I will take both of your advice. This is the first time that Ive used any of the forum when I joined the challenge and already have found great support. Thank you again.
Tammy (my name also!), I've been in your position. It's not easy when you want to lose weight and unable to bc of being hurt. Ya see, I have back issues and my pain level goes up and down all the time. Then my left leg hurts from nerve damage from the discs that are bad in my lumbar. Now my right knee is giving me grief bc I have been overcompensating for my left leg. UGH! Always something with me.
And now on May 8th I have to go for an epidural steroid injection in my L3-4 (which is a new disc problem). Previously I've not taken those well and end up in bed for a week afterwards. So I'm not looking forward to that. No moving, except for the trips to the bathroom, for a week or so. :(
So I know how you feel. Try to maintain where you are, eat lots of fruit and veggies and wait til you are completely well again before trying to exercise. That's my advice to you. We're here for ya! Don't give up.
Thank you Tryin2lose25... I have thought about trying to work out on my right leg, but I'm already using it alot more overcompensating for my left leg and if I get sore on my right on leg, then I'll really be hurting.. Thank you for your advice.
I hope that your injections go well and you have better luck with them this time. It sounds like you deal with alot of pain issues on a regular basis. I wish you well and you really seem to have a great positive attitude about it. :-)
Thank you for being here for me and I won't give. Thanks again. Tammy
I'm definitely in, this is my first challenge I have joined but I already feel really motivated :] My goal is to lose 13 pounds!
